Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Did Roman Say This About Layoffs?

Did Roman say this or anything like it when the massive and fifth consecutive year of layoffs were announced? The following is a statement from Mark Zuckerberg, who gets a lot of criticism and some of it is deserved. Nevertheless, he stood up and did what real men do - - unlike Mike Roman.

“I know there must be just a range of different emotions. I want to say up front that I take full responsibility for this decision.
I’m the founder and CEO, I’m responsible for the health of our company, for our direction, and for deciding how we execute that, including things like this, and this was ultimately my call.
And it was one of the hardest calls that I’ve had to make in the 18 years of running the company. And a lot of why it’s hard is, obviously, it has a big impact on your lives, but also for our mission. We’re losing people who… you’ve really put your heart and soul into this place.
Each of you is talented and passionate, and each of you has played a role in making Meta the success that it is. No matter what team you may have worked on, each of you played a role in contributing to the products that billions of people use to connect every day. “

There is no possible way he is even close to 30% if you ask people who have paid attention to his moves over the last 4.5 years. I would challenge anybody to point out something he has done that has moved the company forward in any meaningful way (strengthening the company for the future, increasing shareholder value, etc.). Instead, it’s been a bunch of poorly placed bets and rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic.

In response to "Internally in 3M, I wonder what is the current rating for Roman. I wonder if it is even 30 % ?"

Half of his COC team resigned (not retired) under his watch. Probably the best reflection of his leadership.

He should go home and stay in there.

Let us not even try to compare Mark Z and our own Mike R.

Mark built a company from stratch and it reached a trillion dollar market cap. Mike took a 150 billion cap company to now 65 billion. He never built any business and does not know how to do it. He has been a total disaster and he is still talking about his playbook working.

Internally in Meta, Mark Z still has very high approval ratings. Internally in 3M, I wonder what is the current rating for Roman. I wonder if it is even 30 % ?

TO MIKE ROMAN:

I can't control your behavior;
nor do I want that burden.
but I will not apologize for
refusing to be disrespected
to be lied to, or to be mistreated.
I have standards; step up or step out.

The term “Golden Rule” does not appear in the Bible. However, many use this term to refer to a rule of conduct that Jesus taught. In his famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: “All things . . . that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them.” (Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31) The Golden Rule has also been expressed this way: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

What we see here is how Mark Zuckerberg sees people.

We KNOW that Roman has no inner compass. All he can do is count the money.
