A former Belk executive says Belk corporate wants to fool current employees into thinking they are easily replaceable by always hiring, playing hiring announcements in stores, even if they are cutting hours, or hiring people then giving them no hours. It's a psycological game, and a way to keep belk from having to give cost of living adjustments more than the laughable 2 or 3% they have last year, when the cost of living has gone up over 10%. This also prevents the current employees from asking for a raise, because some will fear they will be replaced with a temp. Don't fall for it, in reality, Belk can find almost no qualified applicants either at the executive level, fulfillment level, or store level, so if you think you are worth more, demand it, Belk needs every worker badly.

It is sickening that they think 2% is a decent raise. Has anyone tried to get a better raise and did it work? Who did you contact?
It takes many truths to gain trust from Belk workers but only one lie lose it all. There you have it at Belk today!
