Why would a LL6 approve a GSR’s reduction in hours and then after the GSR worked part time for 2 months, the manager became angry and forced the GSR out of a job? Makes no sense. Then why did the LL6 approve this in the first place?

LL6 does not equate with competence.
Also, would anyone like me to post the press release of the sale of my company? It’s no secret I worked at Ford and what happened.
Close. Not the most successful in history, but one of the most. Please remember at the time in 2004, my business was in start up mode. I had no idea if it would fold or grow into
what it is today and I gave up my Ford career for this. Interesting comment about the drama. I never looked at it this way, but perhaps that is what the LL6 thought due to toxic Ford culture? Thanks for the feedback. Again, then why approve my TWA in the first place? Why give me an “O” for 5 years in a row then? Well, everything worked out fine. Any other feedback is welcome.
Let me get this straight. You went TWA for 8 weeks. At the end of 8 weeks, your LL6 was so mean that you had to take a year off and that at the end of the year, you decided to never come back. You became the most successful entrepreneur in history and moved to the sunbelt?
Maybe you are a drama queen and your old coworkers are glad you are gone.
So you weren't forced out, you quit.
Lol at some people’s comments. When you take Sabbatical, you go back into
your main area’s headcount mine was Body Engineering- you don’t stay underneath your LL6. So when I was on Sabbatical, yes, my TWA part-time position was eliminated, but I was technically still in Body Engineering. After the way the LL6 treated me and what the LL4 said, no way I was going back.
To answer your question about nearly 20 years later, “Why am I on here?” Lol is a good one. In 2016, my business was sold and I am retired now and live 10 months of the year in a state in the sunbelt. I do have a lot of extra time. I do often reflect on my earlier life and how I could have done things differently or improved on things. I am also interested in how Ford is changing and I do have a different perspective since I’ve worked with many in Silicon Valley.
By the way, the LL4 who asked if I was pregnant yet, got demoted a few years after that to LL5. Lol. He’s since retired - thank goodness for Ford.
"I never went back. How could I?" So you chose not to return after your sabbatical? So your job was not eliminated? So you were forced out by a bullying manager?
You are so full of sh-t.
When you are young and naive, the first time you learn that the world is not kumbaya leaves an impression. I vividly remember the first time I realized that a coworker was stealing credit for my work while simultaneously stabbing me in my back to my manager. I was devastated. It was a lesson I needed to learn. I left that job (not Ford), found a better one. Periodically that coworker would cross my path (she played the same game at every place she worked until she was ousted, funnily the only place that promoted her and retained her for her particular talents was Ford).
The first time I realize I was getting paid much less than peers also left a mark. I learned to negotiate a better salary from that experience. That came @ Ford where a LL6 was paying white male contractors $72 an hour while paying non-white females doing the same job $50 an hour, all the while claiming he was paying us all top $ and then trying to sabotage anyone who left for better $ by spreading lies to contract house and also new employer.
Some things leave a mark. You move on, but you don’t forget. You are stronger, but alas you are human and well when karma rolls around you do smile and applaud a wee bit.
So you are one most successful (non automotive) software entrepreneurs in the country? Why then after nearly 20 years are you are posting on a board for a company you haven't had anything to do with for 2 decades? I've worked at other places besides Ford. I couldn't care any less than I do what happens after I'm gone.
I do agree that you should always have a backup job wise and management will turn on you when opportune for them. I'm done end of the month. Leaving on my own. No buyout. No whining. No crying about it. I have another opportunity elsewhere. It's simply time to go. Once I'm gone, I couldn't care any less about Ford either.
I was approved for TWA since my pay was cut accordingly. This was 2004. Sabbatical was one year and I never went back. Gosh, how could I after that lol? It worked out fine. I went on to be one of the most successful female software (non automotive) entrepreneurs in the country. When people ask me for advice now, I don’t give the traditional advice on “follow your dreams” or “work hard.” That’s obvious. I do warn them about how relating to your current day job, you need to always have a backup and be prepared because the company owes you nothing and management will turn on you.
Were you approved for TWA or was it an informal agreement with your LL6 to reduce your hours?
You said it was years ago. Was it between 2006 and 2009?
What were the terms of your sabbatical?
I cut my hours prior to being pregnant due to possible IVF - which I ended up going through. I was trying to avoid drama and dropping my workload. The IVF procedures are quite involved. You have to get 2-3 shots per day at certain times, it makes you really sick and for egg retrieval, you get anesthesia, etc. I didn’t want to share these details with everyone in the office. Again, just from the reaction of the person telling me I was creating drama, ah s-xist right there. This is an ongoing issue with the company.
Why did you want to cut your hours when you were considering becoming pregnant vs actually being pregnant?
Approval for a sabbatical is unusual. Are you sure you didn't ask for some time off and then tried to stretch it out beyond what was acceptable to your LL6?
You seem high maintenance. Maybe your LL6 just go tired of your drama.
Only one responder here has been helpful - thank you. The only other explanation I can think of is that my LL6 was/is still insane.
As to the fact that now men and woman can get pregnant the OP follow up post does not help narrow down if it's XX or XY......? We need more evidence or hints to assist.....
Trolls

PIP? Make sure PIP trigger a lawsuit
No. I’m not a troll. This was prior to Covid. I was a TA for 5 years and then wanted to cut my hours since I was considering getting pregnant and didn’t want to work full time while pregnant. I was never remote at all. My LL6 agreed.
After 8 weeks, he became nasty by telling me, “ I will get s*** assignments, throwing papers at me, etc” I feel like he made my work environment so terrible I had to leave. I asked for a Sabbatical and he granted it. While I was on Sabbatical, he emailed and said my “position was eliminated.” It was really terrible. This LL6 has retired since. Things worked out extremely well for me post Ford, so no worries. Why did he do this? It still bothers me several years later. I can name names if you want to show I am not a troll.
This is likely a troll post. GSR’s are not forced out of job unless they were already on a PIP and given more than enough opportunity to repair the situation. Plus no LL6 would agree to such an arrangement without support of their LL5 at the very least.
Likely lost their job during the April and August cuts and/or failed PIP plan because they felt the need to explain their failures to family and friends. BTW , under the former once a year PR review system, can’t tell you how rare someone being out on PIP was - in over twenty years working just about everywhere in the company I knew of only one person that was ever on PIP….and yeah they left on their own, too.
Likely because the LL6 did not clear with LL5 or there was musical chairs at LL5 and above post the GSR working part time. Ford mangers want everyone to fit into the same interchangeable box. If you deviate you will become a target.
So if you want to work less than 40 hours do what others do and simply pretend that you are working 40 hours but work 20 instead.
Seriously we had a woman who “worked from home” 2 days a week for 15 years. Yet she was continually observed at the play-ground with her children / shopping /etc on those two days and never ever answered her phone on those days. A stay at home mother ( wife of a coworker) had children the same age and so we all had reports of the activities of the woman on her “work from home” days The LL6 and LL5 knew, they were provided a huge stack of photographic evidence. And no, the woman was not proficient at her job the 3 days she was in the office. She was the team gossip and pot stirrer.
We had two team members who “worked from home” every day of the week for two years. What were they doing? Getting their MBA from Lawrence Tech. The kicker once they got their MBA they asked for and got a promotion to LL6. So they got a salary for two years for literally doing no work, got tuition reimbursement, and then got a promotion. And BTW the MBA had zero application to the jobs they were getting paid to do.
Its all scripted or else the ll6 would have lost his ..lol
How did this GSR get "forced" out of a job?!
