The railroad strike of 2022 (that didn’t happen), reminds me of a trained circus elephant. This elephant was raised and trained in captivity from a baby, and he learned that when he had one leg tied to a post that he was helpless. And as he grew larger and larger into a multi ton full grown adult, his captors continued to control him by simply tying a rope around one of his legs. He had the power to pull the entire big top circus tent down and everything along with it, but he never had the confidence in his ability because in his mind he was still controlled by the spindly tether.
The latest thing I read is they might possibly be able to be allowed to go on strike pretty soon. Is that correct ? Or is the 5 year extended grace period extended a little longer, like till after the holidays ?
Did the strike happen yet ?
Funny how a few low level junior managers come on here to down vote statements. I know y'all have alot of time on your hands, can you approve my hours of service while your at it???
The “strike” is old news and is obviously just misinformation and a rumor. Nothing to see here. Old news like H B laptop. If anybody seriously wanted to go on strike it would have happened already.
Parsons, Kansas is ready!!!!!!

I’ve seen contracts delayed before,seems like they been delayed 2 years before.
It's inspiring to me to see all my union brethren ready to strike for the first time in years. Solidarity!
Quick question. Been with railroad since 2008. Has this been the longest a new contract has been delayed???. I mean damn gonna be time for our new future contract soon.
@1oz you described it perfectly.
Signals been hanging on by a thread for years. Longer territories, more tests, less people. BUT STAY on call now!!!! And make sure you do ALL your tests coming due if you want to take vacation. What a joke. We get punished for holidays and vacation. All because No relief maintainers.
I am in the BRS, we had a union meeting last weekend. Rep told us he doesn't foresee us being allowed to strike. That plus I read the track dept union was offered a sick day deal of earn or accumulate 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hrs worked to maximum of 56hrs. I have no clue how signal maintenance will handle us employees being off about another week each year per employee. When everyone is here we can't get all the work done. Track manager is mad at us daily for not being able to support his guys enough. If any managers are reading this,,,, we need more people. No whining, no complaining, no bu!!sh't, we need more man power.
