I feel very stuck here, but unfortunately, it's my fault that I didn't leave earlier when the job market was much better. It would be terrible to be stuck at this job until the economy recovers. I hope that I will find a new job very soon, although I have less and less hope that it will happen quickly.

The company is now under the bus. They are sleep walking into irrelevancy. Rested too long on their laurel wreath. Now a bunch of politically motivated mid-managers and self serving directors with superficial functionality and no contribution towards revenue, are eating away at its heart. Cisco cannot even retain any talent any more. Anyone who is any good is either leaving or has already left.
Those frogs that have only been in the well of Cisco for over 20 years know nothing of the great ocean.
The only environment they are SUPPOSED to be respected is Cisco. But they are considered and lazy and useless outside the world.
OP - Completely agree. I've been miserable here since the start of a certain project.
How id--tic does one have to be to believe "tech industry knows anyone left at Cisco has no current skills and is considered lazy."? Considered how many ex-Cisco folks are at AWS, Google, Azure, etc. then I guess those employers don't agree with your broad and uneducated generalization. Just because you are mediocre doesn't entitle you to extrapolate your condition by thinking it applies to everyone.
Be strategic and look out for your best interests. Do your day job to keep employed but don't let it bleed into the rest of your life. Make a list of skills you want to gain for your next job and spend a few hours every night studying. Be prepared for the right outside opportunity when it becomes available. Take control of your future. Don't let Cisco get you down.
You would have been in Meta, stripe, Twitter and Tesla by this time would have received pink slip with 45 days severance
"You stayed too long and now you will suffer because tech industry knows anyone left at Cisco has no current skills and is considered lazy."
I can't agree more!
