Thread regarding 3M layoffs

What is the value of Area LVS ?

Today saw another request coming from Div VP thru the Area LVS. VP wants to know some headcount information of plant. Area LVS just forward and pass on the request to Plant. After completion, plant submits back to Area LVS, who in turn compiles and send back to Div VP.

Question is : why do 3M need to create another layer in Area LVS? Mind you these are JG15s and 16s. Just doesn't make sense.

Totally useless. We need plant focused manufacturing process improvement and hard cost savings that these people cant deliver. And they cant do slides like segment marketing. At least segment has slides!! (Lots of slides)

I'm here to help.

In the much beloved A3M model, it is often not clear to the average observer exactly who is helping who.

I'm and experienced Lean Facilitator, Change Management Consultant, and Performance Improvement Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the manufacturing industry and healthcare. Skilled in Operations Management, Change Management, Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Process & Performance Improvement.

All this drives LVS profitability and shareholder wealth that trickles down to the rank and file.

Hi everyone. I am from area LVS working for one of division under SIBG. After reading the messages, I am worried that I might lose my job. Does anyone think my job as area LVS will be removed soon?

Pepperidge Farm remembers when A/3M was rolled out and the Division Presidents were supposed to be measured purely on profit at standard cost. Division leadership was literally not supposed to ask how the plants were doing, the training slides literally said that.

LVS's sole job was to make sure the plants supplied the demand while meeting or beating standard cost.... seems so long ago in another galaxy.

Just another in the long line of examples of the failed A/3M model...

Another failed Advanced 3M operating model from MR.

Wonder if there is ever any accountability from the leadership for such failed strategy?

It stands for Lean Value Stream
But in real life, it's contrary to its name
There are so many duplicate roles created

I don’t know exactly what LVS is but it sure sounds redundant

Too many times I’ve seen people with a lot of experience ignored, d-mbed down if you will, to the point whereby they lose all enthusiasm. They stop showing or taking any initiative and sit there like order takers; waiting to be told precisely what to do. A real shame.

There are some good folks who ended up in their LVS roles and are now victims of the A3M model. Even if they wanted to do good things, they are simply “repeaters” in a network of red tape and worthlessness. It is sad because I am sure some good people will ultimately lose their job because they were put in worthless positions.

They are so nervous that they’re throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. They are in a quandary about what to do next.

LvS is the group that takes the credit from the plants, but pushes all the work to the working levels. Wonder why MR decided to create this layer as a outcome of A3M?

LVS: Least Valuable Staff

Layers of management that provide no value!

Ha

You need to be specific.

Do you mean BG area LVS or Enterprise Ops area LVS ?

And the fact I’m asking just goes to show you the layers of unnecessary leadership we have in this company.
