The shortest way I could describe the atmosphere at GA is the battle of egos. Backstabbing is an established practice.. I have never experienced this much unhealthy workplace competition anywhere. The goal is to outsmart the other... Why does it seem to me that the bosses are actually fueling such toxic atmosphere, regardless of the fact that in the end it is the company that suffers the worst of it?

Competition at GA? What GA do you work at? The only competition I have seen at GA is who can be lazier! Who can do the least amount of work as possible and be praised by the company for being diverse instead of meeting goals!
i think that is the result of underpaying employees, which causes them to deflect commitment to deadlines. this causes pressure to management to try to push products out the door with a workforce unwilling to perform at a higher pay grade than they are currently getting paid to operate. That coupled with the existing threat of layoff, and youre going to have a bad time!
