Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Backpay/Retroactive pay is not a deal sweetener

Money that you are OWED for work you already performed is not a deal sweetener. If the carrier believes they're giving something up by paying backpay it's because the Union has allowed them to work us WITHOUT a contract for year's and will allow them to continue to do so in the future without a penalty.

I hear lots of guys at my shop talking about a 10-11k backpay and I laugh at them and ask if they 1. Did the math 2. Accounted for a reduction from taxes and RRB -30% I tell them they are in for a sticker shock when they see their backpay check lol

Some people will hire out with a 25k bonus is some locations. Current employees get 5k longevity. It’s like Barnum and Bailey took over and have the clowns running things.

The folks in debt are chomping at the bit to get the whopping 11,000! Everyone that votes should snap a screen shot! Those 1000 bonuses will be a whole 600 bucks by the time you touch it!
