This is good news for both sides.
Assuming they are able to avoid bankruptcy, there is an opportunity for a new leadership team to come in who is focused on cleaning up the disaster that 3M has become.
A strong, ethical, leader who can admit to and understand the past failures and apply the lessons of these lawsuits to improve 3M in the future.
Take deep look into the culture of 3M and make real changes.
New leader should publicly Blame these ethical failures on GE style leadership and cost cutting model (GE poisoning US business for 30 years which is getting more and more accepted in US business).
New leadership acan discredit 'management by a bottom of the class MBA' talent and analysis/decision-making model.
Don't care whether new CEO/CFO etc. 'diverse' or not...however IMO diverse would be great IMO in really changing the culture.
Status Quo just won't work anymore.
Hope the board understands this.
