Do you feel cheated like I do?

Don't see why you would feel cheated. Disappointed, maybe? Buyer's remorse? Sure. In any event, your interview process started probably weeks before and no one at VMware without a C-Suite title knew anything about it so unless you were hired to report to Raghu or another company officer you weren't 'cheated'. I do feel for you though - you definitely didn't get what you were expecting.
Just start interviewing again. Look at it this way, it’s easy enough to explain away in an interview because everyone knows what a soul-sucking hellscape Broadcom is. Plus your interview skills should still be sharp because you just joined. Start taking those recruiter calls.
If you joined VMware after all the competent executives left and you were happy with Raghu, Kit and Sumit running the show, you should have known what you were getting into.
you felt bad, but I don't think cheated because most of them didn't know it will happen, (imagine if you can really think the company will be acquired just couple of months after become independent company), people just did their job to hire you.
Why do you feel cheated? Do you feel like you won't have job? (layoffs happen everywhere and used to be frequent at vmware) nobody is saying if you will lose your job or not because nobody actually knows
My first day was the day before the announcement so yes. 😭🤣🤦♀️
