Who knew and when did they know it? So many careers gone in a few days with more to come. So at least one knew and took the easy way out. If this doesn't end it for BBB moral in the stores already bad, people walking out with merchandise the leaders and HR worthless the not knowing for the store staffs is today my last day? Not sure it's fair to feel sorry for one and not the thousands who lives were changed. Customers Vendors and the folks that lent the money just Imagine. Maybe more humane closed wrap up BBB and make it a memory.

Need to follow the money. There is a big back story. As the VP of Construction "SE" always boasted, "PERCEPTION IS REALITY". I viewed this slogan as smoke and mirrors of a major coverup. The investigators need to investigate and interview VP SE and EVP GM.
They know something!!
You know, I really believe those that are left and don't want to see the writing on the wall, start looking for the next job, etc. just want to believe bbb will keep them on the payroll forever. They refuse to believe that the execs are having meeting after meeting deciphering the CHEAPEST way to get rid of you. All of those that stay now deserve what they get, including the inevitable closed door meeting when they least expect it and pink slip. So stupid.
Replying to - There is always another opportunity. Always. I have been with BBB for over 19 years. Movin on......
Correct, there are other, and better opportunities out there. I found one and am much happier. Seek and you will find.
Associates and managers alike need to work very hard at removing themselves from this situation. There is no turnaround happening. Sr. DM’s, DM’s etc with tenure allowed people to come in from the outside and destroy the culture of our company. You had an RVP, MFT, that told her entire team that she knew within a couple of minutes if someone should be on her team. Give me a break!! The Sr. DM/DM could have pulled her to the side and told her to stop the negative rhetoric but nobody had any toughness. The DM’s and Sr.‘s have a responsibility to protect their people from stupidity and viciousness and they ended up laying up. So sad to see but you always knew that after some of the older RVP’s were let go that we lost a lot of our toughness. MFT also thought it was a great idea for her to interview all internal candidates for open SM opportunities only to always end up selecting the person from Target no matter what. Did the rejected candidate get a phone call from MFT after not being selected…nope.
What happened to all of these good BBB candidates go shortly thereafter? To our competition where they were respected for their energy and enthusiasm. MFT has made so many bad talent decisions that someone should escort her out of her office on rails. Terrible with a capital MFT!!

I sort of fail to see how anyone would think there is no life after BBBY, and I was there 4 years. I'd have customers who would tell me they "worked here in high school".
In regards to the man taking his life..
Your job is not your life, you are so much more than just a job or career or company.
I was a Soft side manager from 03-13.
Ten years was enough, and it was time to move on.
There is always a chance to reinvent yourself, to learn new things, to find something else to work at.
Prior to working at BBB I worked at a retailer that was going under, and I stayed until the bitter end. I regretted it.
My advice is, don't do that to yourself, find something else to uplift you.
Don't let a company take you down as well.
