Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

This was all ready established

When we were in the very beginning stages of merger talk. John L explained exactly what was going to happen right after the bid for sprint was complete. It was well established at a meeting at HQ in 2018 with all of the leadership team in the company.

I’m leaving the company soon and my last day is coming up, but why does everyone expect a company to take care of them in this way. Layoffs happen, businesses grow, businesses merge, and more layoffs happen.

He spoke of Synergies being a huge consequence of the merger and there would be pain, but it would lead to more jobs in the next five years.

While we have let go tons of employees as of late, we also have new sites being constructed that can support 1200 people on site. Ultimately jobs will go up and there will be more employees, but you all expect that certain roles would remain.

I don’t bleed magenta, but I have enough sense to realize that it truly isn’t personal it is just business.

This is incorrect. John Ledger testified in front of Congress because the House was skeptical with the FCC chairman's view that this would create jobs. Every man woman and child has a phone. There were only four places to get one. Now there are three. T-Mobile's and the FCC Comssioner, (a non-voted govt official), all got their cut. And we got ours. You lying, cheating scumbag pigs. You sp-t in the face of hard working Americans.

Cut duplicate jobs??? Sprint had no field techs. They used contractors. The contract ended in July. So why where Magenta field techs let go? Especially when they are taking care of both Sprint and Magenta cells.

Try to rationalize this how ever you want. There are things that don't make sense. Last month's layoffs the people were told a week in advance. Last weeks people were walked to the door. Entire departments that were created last year to bring more in house were laid off last week.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Any time two companies come together there will always be redundancy to which said redundancy eventually has to go for the needs of a business. They said they wouldn't have any layoffs for two years. They did that. They're way beyond that two year agreement. It sucks for all involved but this is how things work.

I think everyone understands that tmobile is a business. That doesnt give them a free pass to flat out lie to people!

Also, i have received multiple class actiin lawsuit settlements in which tmobile settled with no admission of guilt. The problem I have with that is they were guilty of most of the allegegations. That being said, there have been times where i wasnt paid fairly and tmobile paid pennies on the dollar to settle instead of paying what I was actually enyitles to. Yayy magenta?

Anyways, i always had a target on my back while at tmobile as i had utilized the open door policy and faced retaliation for doing so in my opinion. As a result i never had much of a favorable view of the company as i had seen the company's true colors long ago.

Welcome to the world of fierce competition and limited market share. Cutthroat competition. And equity stock market capitalization.

I read many statements that folks are confusing facts. The discussion of building more sites is about workplaces, not cell sites. There will be jobs, but not necessarily the ones you have now, located where you live, nor will they be using the skills you have used in the past. A lot of the TDMA structured organizations will have to go and replace with something that may or may not currently exist. Two companies merged, the merger agreement specified how long there would not be changes and that time period has expired.

No one thinks this isn’t “just business”, in fact it’s very obvious it’s not about people, it’s about greed. The issue here is that TMUS preaches one thing and does the exact opposite. THAT is where people take issue. If TMUS had all along presented themselves as the shrewd cold hearted company they are, then no one would feel quite so betrayed. They lied at the merger and lied about their culture. That is why feelings got hurt.

"Just business" Why not offer voluntary severance packages? Plenty of people close to retirement. All the Sprint layoffs led to loss of talent. Many top notch employees left because they were tired of looking over their shoulder.

Locking people out of their computers and walking them to the door was disrespectful. Being let go by your Director or Senior Manager instead of your manager was odd. Some managers didn't even know their techs were laid off until their techs told them. They made this personal with the manner in which it was executed.

So they got rid of field techs because they're building new sites. That's Brilliant!

Corporations have a responsibility to their employees. If a corporation chooses to treat their employees with contempt and disrespect there will be a price to be paid. What TMUS did recently to many employees is wrong, they are putting profits ahead of caring for employees. TMUS would have been better off letting attrition run its course.
