Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Sinking ship

This is a potential huge scandal with CFO and this be the end of BBB very soon. This could involve more people than what's being said. As a Store Manager BBB really never was transparent with individual store profits, but since 2020 I have never seen a DSP from my DM. I've been wondering for the past couple of years on how profitable we really are. It appears the end is near.

I would be most concerned about healthcare for the full timers right now. Still sadly the number one cause of bankruptcies here. I suppose embezzlement may be a close second in near future.

Wonder if BBBY still underwrites employee health insurance plans? Know we use to and used Blue Cross Blue Shield as cover... We should find out immediately. May not have coverage.

Sounds like the numbers are worse than anyone imagined. He was getting canned and the SEC is investigating him, Sue Grove…AND Cohen!! Someone is comparing this to the next Enron and they might not be far Behind!

We’re broke. He knew. And the pressure was too much.

NEVER give another company time off the clock. I used to catch he-l for working before the clock at my BBBY. Has more to do with insurance and workman's comp issues, but I CAN relate to why you did it as I did it as well.

It is really sad but as a “current “ employee I gave my all. Never called out sick, working all of the holidays, punched out and still worked. Gave them 1000% and now I’m going to be out of a job. I’m thankful for the last 20 years but f these people who screwed up a great company. Maybe he was pushed but who knows. I hope the truth comes out and the bad people pay for what they did. Thanks for all of the great memories but they won’t pay my mortgage.

Trading in BBBY stock could be suspended for a long time if they go under investigation. I don't know about movie of the week, but I'll be books get written about this place as they did about ENRON.

The sad thing is that if it gets to bankruptcy and Liquidation, it will be the vendors, the landlords and the lawyers first in line for the money. Average employee will get what is left and I would not trust BBBY to be upfront and fair about it. You are right on transparency and it's a big reason why I left. When my former SM was trying to bs me and telling me he knew nothing of the landlord suing the place while we were closed for COVID, it was time to leave. It was in all the local papers and online. He was not being truthful. I thank YOU for being honest, at least. You will land someplace better.
