I know I won't. Everything that's been happening has me on edge and I haven't been able to let go once I leave work. Too much stress and uncertainty to be able to just switch it off as much as I want to. You know it's bad when work is affecting our personal lives to this extent.

Thoroughly enjoyed the long weekend. I guess ur not a vp or above.
3M job cut has nothing to do with economy,it is all about failure leadership at all levels
The situation is bad, unprecedented, unfortunate, and most workers are just now learning how bad. So your stress level is totally understandable and real!!!!
Like others said do what you can to treat yourself good, and do things like walking, etc that you enjoy and are helpful to relax. Also focus on making sure you are getting sleep, focus on making sure you are taking care of your health! If you find a week from now that you are still not sleeping and not able to relax, then I encourage you to seek help as having someone to listen and help you strategize to keep yourself healthy is critical. Just saying that you need to prioritize your well being and seek help sooner than later.
At the same time, start to take control with what you can control. We are in a new reality and it sucks. It is worse than any worse case scenario than I could have predicted and I plan for the worse case! 3M at this pint is in survival mode and they are purely doing what they can to try to survive.
At this time there is no thought about employees, it purely a numbers game.
Things you can start doing to start taking more control is putting together you to do list. Things you can do to prepare for getting laid off, connecting with your financial advisor, if you do not have one, you can talk with fidelity and most will run your numbers for free.
Other things are to start updating your resume, get your LinkedIn profile up-to-date, connecting with people, etc. just start preparing and taking it one step at a time. Even if you are not cut now, the likely hood it will happen in the future is high and if they freeze pensions it actually might be a good thing as now those staying because of their pensions are untethered and there is no reason to stay.
Not all what we want, not what we expected, it was preventable, but unfortunately that is where we are. I hope to read about 3Ms rise and fall in a Harvard Business review some day as the number of misguided calculations and bad business decisions would be a fascinating read/case study.
So take care of yourself first, get an action plan, seek help where you need,
and start taking control of your future.
Again, this sucks and what you are feeling is very normal/ expected with the new reality. We do not have to like it and I think there is a little grieving to do, not for self pity, but for a loss of the 3M we always thought it was. Us old and dedicated 3Mers were believers in something that evidently we lost a long time ago and are just waking up to it today.
I think that is a big sign to start your job hunt. Why let a company impact you this way when you’re literally just a number to them? I found a new role and have never been happier. My stress level reduced, my attitude changed and I remembered my love for my career. No job is worth this physically and mental toll.
Take some long walks, go to the library, watch reruns that bring back fun memories. It's sad that times like this have come along but also remember there are people waiting this weekend to find out about perhaps a serious health issue such as do they have cancer. This too will pass. If bad happens know the next place will be happy once you get a job there and settled in.
When ever leaving a place of work leave it behind You.
Never let anyone live in Your head especially on Your time.
trust yourself, are you a self starter, hard worker, unless you have serious financial problems don't stress it, you will get by, if the worse comes to the worse, the world is at a strange place at the minute, a lot of crises that puts our employment into perspective,, be calm and assess things weekly, stress ruins things , try and keep away from it
