The majority of laid-off employees are in their fifties. Yes, some younger employees were cut as well but from what I can see, older ones have been affected disproportionately. Is there any way to address this, considering that age discrimination is illegal? A class action suit or something like that?

They did, The CWA was asking for one person to open a lawsuit during the time period of you posting this. I know they did, and they did it by Violating the WARN Act, which would have given each States Department of Labor time to figure it out. In NJ, OCT 2022, I sent the issue in detail to State Senator Bramnick and The Governors office, I didn't get any response, But in Feb of 2023 there was a Trenton paper that did a press release of how Gov Murphy championed a WARN Act Penalty that would ensure Corporate Compliance with Greater Daily Fines. Basically no threats. Funny thing was that T-Mobile filed its first ever WARN Act in NJ shortly after. Not taking credit, there was no victory. The Timing, I suspect is SEC Filing related. They will still be able to hide layoffs of protected (expensive) classes that are present and future liabilities, in order to show SEC Filings of healthy short term 2 to 3 yrs of financials to new investors.
African American women still get paid much less than white women for same work and exorbitantly less than white men at T-mobile even with diversity and inclusion sermons everywhere, what a shame.
And you get pennies while the attorneys get the benJamins! ROFL
Have to realize that with tenure comes age. Someone with 20-25 years in will naturally be older. Tenure + age = Higher paid employees. It is what it is.
All employees over the age of 40 are a protected class under the Age Discrimination Act. If you feel like you were terminated because of your age, sue the f*ck out of the company! 10 years wages at least. There are plenty of good attorneys out there that specialize in employment law.
the severance agreement says you wont bring any suit and if you do they can take back severance money and go after you for legal bills to defend. They also give some document showing statistics of those let go to show it isn't age based 🙄 even though most let go are all over 12+ years tenure and likely 40+ years old
They did a review of NT experience a few years back, and it was something like an average of 9 years experience. That was done in L-M.

I'm in no ways a lawyer, but I do have a deep understanding of statistics and a basic understanding of TMO demographics (well, enough in my role where I was able to see ages, tenure, etc. of most FTE's).
On average, T-Mobile's age/tenure is relatively old, especially after the merger with Sprint. The average tenure of legacy non-retail/Care Sprint employees is 16 years. The average tenure of legacy non-retail/Care T-Mobile employees is 10 years. The average age of non-retail/Care LS employees is in the high 40's, early 50's, and the average age of non-retail/Care LTM employees is in the low-40s. Some of this might have slightly changed recently with the high attrition.
The company-wide demographics (remember, there wasn't just Network this week, it's been going on for months) of those laid off fit pretty well into the demographics of the company. It does skew older and more tenured, but, it's not statistically significant.
That's my take. Of course, your best option is to talk to an experienced employment law lawyer.
