How many people were offered other positions within the company? Do you know of any? This seems more like damage control than anything else to me.
30 year veteran here, I was kicked to the curb. No way to move to another position since they are all frozen right now. Nothing was offered by I was told I could look at T-Mobile.com. My boss's boss let me go, my boss did not know I got laid-off till I called him.
Wireless telecom is brutal. Better off in another career.
TMUS doesn't want you anymore. Breaking up is hard to do. I don't know how they could be more clear, it's over, now move on and don't ever look back.

It's called ego st-----g. They could care less in reality. Business is business, bottom line rules.
It was complete BS for our marketing org. I’ve applied to two jobs with the EXACT same title and didn’t even get interviews.
Most available jobs are in retail. The let go network and engineering employees. They won't be going to retail because they wouldn't be able to keep their pay. I know of entire groups being let go. They received no offer. In fact they were locked out of their computers and escorted to the door. This was ruthless. It wasn't the low key your job is being eliminated at the end of the week. It was grab your stuff and get out. Unexpected process to say the least!
It is true. They are offered positions that are lower in pay and lower than what they were doing. The most sickening thing about it is they send out a "Promotion" email with the "about to be laid off employees" picture stating they have been promoted to that position. So all the little minions keep getting brainwashed that they have a chance to make it big at T-Mobile cause they see so many promotions. They aren't being promoted, they are being demoted in an attempt not to loose an income altogether. Sick as sh-t.
There are open positions for certain skill sets and people that are let go can apply. There are much fewer of the positions so not something for everyone. Also if someone has had an issue with HR or has a bad reputation, then the chances of landing the position would be very low (hopefully)
So yes it is true but the reality is that only the people with a needed skill set in another department would benefit.
my team got moved to a new org with the same titles and comp, they're probably including transfers in that statement
