I had this question for a while. Some folks seem to be represented by their two up and sometimes by a VP in rank meetings. How does it all work? And how can you be represented by someone who you perhaps never talked with?

@rta+1iw4btTe Being in the top 20% doesn’t make you a HiPo. There are very few HiPos. Many think they are a HiPo because they rank well but aren’t. HiPos are identified in first couple of year and have to have a 25% chance of hitting assigned ultimate potential. The HiPo group is then whittled down over time. Have to be on track to have 50% then 75% chance of reaching ultimate potential. HiPos are identified early and then it is a constant weed out over time. There aren’t any ways to add people to the HiPo list after the first couple of years.
Once you hit a certain CL (maybe 38?) you are no longer part of the usual assessment process
I was represented last year by someone that had never met me, who was briefed about me by someone that had never met me. Neither of those two had ever even visited my affiliate.
Presidents typically will rank VPs and such, the MC will rank functional Presidents, and DW/TG and the board will rank above that. DW obviously is numero uno.
The top 20% always remain in the top 20%.

That’s why this is so messed up.
Sometime you can be represented by a new supervisor that barely know you. Sometimes you can be ranked in the same ranking group as your supervisor.
Some years, it’s based on what you delivered relative to goals. Other years it’s base on “behaviors”.
