Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Numbers of employees that are required for a closing shift?

Is it company policy to allow one sale associate and one manager to close the store for the day? There will be two hours of the store being open with just two employees in the whole store?

This is the norm at many retailers.

It use to be that you should have 3 people (2 associates and one manager) but I have seen some stores only have 2 people (one manager and one associate). Usually those stores aren’t doing the scheduling properly. If you have a good SM they find a way to free up hours to keep closing crews safe. Thankfully we do and he manages to find a way every week even though it gets harder and harder with hours so low.

It’s been two since they cut our hours way back to both open and close. We don’t even have a second person anymore when we open the back door to take a truck. The manager just does it by themselves.

When the two employees get robbed of a couple hundred thousand dollars of merchandise. The company will do something after the lawsuits.

That's what stores in the Midwest have been running with for months

We’ve closed with a key holder and one associate every night

my (now former) store has had many nights with just the cashier and the closing key; i think technically the manager just needs one other person, but between having no hours, no employees, and the employees they had having very limited availability....

I would not even call the DM. I would call the SM and lock the doors .

It is crazy how they think we can safely run stores with hours in the mid 300s. Let alone get all the workload done. And what happens when the holidays roll around?

Typically well thought out by this tu-d of a company. And if I remember correctly, that would be the time the safe is open? People are obviously at risk. If someone was brazen enough to steal Fitbits years ago that were locked up at 7 pm at night, take care of yourselves. Especially with brand name stuff on the way.

Here we go again ! The safety of the managers and associates put at risk. With everything else going on does the company such as it is want a law suit when someone gets hurt . Is it really worth it ? It will happen they are playing with fire .

I know at one point you were supposed to have a minimum of 3. A manager and 2 associates. With everything going on, I am sure that went out the window. Having only a manager and 1 associate is a security risk if you ask me. But who is around to even care? Do we still have anyone in LP?
