I am a former employee of 3M. I was part of the last reduction when there was 3,000 in Jan. 2021. I was short of 2 months for a FULL retirement of age + service = 92! What kind of a company does that to their loyal, dedicated employees? I was there just shy of 32 years. I would NEVER recommend anyone work there. It’s NOT the same company. They don’t care about their employees. Karma is tough! I don’t feel bad for 3M. What goes around, comes around. Mike Roman has run this company into the ground.

Make sure you get on with your pension and take a lump sum if you can. That way if the krappe really hits the fan and 3m is bankrupted, you at least didn't get thrown into the government pension bailout.
Anyone who hired into 3m before the imation spin days knows what a true employee employer partnership USED to look like. The loyalty from the employer started to wane in the late 90s after imation but really accelerated when ge mack took over from Desi. Inge talked a good game but failed in his most important mission - choosing a worthy successor. Mike has been a robot for 4 or so years now. Earnings not meeting target, cut. Wash rinse repeat. So sad
Been there and done that as well with 3M. When they are done with you they kick you to the curb. Every angle you brought up was nope, policy, policy, policy... Literally would not speak to you as a manager and wanted you to lie to the plant employees about the situation. Would not lie for them (long story) and said wanted all orders in writing/emails. You guessed it, MR was BG leader then. I kept all emails and was able to show my close employees the deceit after the fact as we were gone from 3M. They could not believe, but realized the stress it caused me. My immediate 3M MOM told me they turned him into a liar. I agreed and to the employees they were all liars and now they knew.
