Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

A message for agents

I think it is only fair to let you all know what is coming for agents in terms of the changes in underwriting and agency services. Things will be changing big time for our agents.

*Underwriting will be about 90% automated and AI. No more underwriting chat service for agents. Only human underwriting presence will be properly services and processing behind the scenes that will not be serving agents directly. No more underwriting appeals and escalations for agents. All decisions will be final from the system.

*All agency chat service will be with overseas contractors aside from very few retained. You will be speaking with trained overseas contractor employees from Mexico and Asian countries and no longer Allstate employees.

*Chats will be timed and only available for a period of 10 minutes per interaction

*No more manager contacts or escalations. Chat will be your only point of agency service contact.

*All the above coming in early 2023

I predicted this when the support departments went solely to chat platforms, giving 2- 5 years before these jobs would no longer be needed either. And here we are, on the verge of the 2 year mark. Leadership creates a toxic work environment. If this were a personal relationship, it would be considered mentally abusive. Many of us, with many years of tenure, are willing to take the layoff graciously.

Will agent advocates remain in chat to help agents long term ?

Underwriting. Guy Hill. A joke. Responsible for profit but still has a job while we lose a billion dollars. Good work if you can get it.

That's the issue. Agents like the last response want customer service and rmbc to do their job. You might as well be cut out and just be straight up sales reps if you don't want to service the policy at all

no. agents job is to bring aboard policies. when you cut renewal / servicing commission, let the company deal with service. Any one with business sense can see that if renewal commission are cut and new biz commission is raised, you focus on what pays you money. they made the bed. they got to sleep in it.

Allstate is getting enough quality 2 cars and a home business out of direct. Who needs agents.

Some of these responses by agents are laughable. No disrespect to the many great agents we have. However, some agents really think that they are suppose to just sell policies and even though it's their client and they are getting paid for it they can just pass the servicing part on to ASIC to service the policy. Lol. You do realize that's why your their agent? Your suppose to service the policy. ASIC is just there to help you understand rules and guidelines. It's not our customer or commission. It's yours. The agents that are really good don't even need ASIC or RMBC because they know the rules and guidelines. However, there are agents that are lazy and get upset because they have to submit a war for a refund. I feel bad for the customer. If I had an agent and they were that lazy where they didn't want to fill out a war so I could get a refund. If ASIC serviced the policies there would be no need for agents. You would just be sales reps

ASIC isn't a bad department. If you chat in for billing, premium increases, discounts, or surcharges, drivewise, endorsements, or milewise you will get an answer. However, the issue is when agents chat in about issues outside of that like tech support issues, coverage questions, claim issues or rmbc issues. To be fair, the routing robot misroutes to ASIC a lot.

What does it really matter? Almost all of us in ASDU are gone in the coming months anyways. Replaced by $5 an hour overseas people. If that's the way the big dogs want it then who am I to say? I'm just playing it out, getting my 16 year severance and unemployment while taking 6 months off to enjoy life and detox from the poison that Allstate has injected into us for so long. Saved up a nice bit in the bank as well on top of it. It's all gravy baby! Eff Allstate and Eff the agents. The sooner this company all around collapses the more joy and giddiness I'll experience. I really could care less. I come to this site hoping for "bad" layoff news and the sooner I'm in that big meeting with HR with them reading their "bye bye" script the better off I'll be and the better off all of us will be.

Transformative Growth has us exclusive agents phased out by 2025 anyways. The new metrics required to remain an EA starting in 2023 and only to get tighter in 2024 will elimate 80% of us by termination anyways allowing Allstate to forcefully take our books with little to zero compensation. A lot of EA's are going to end up completely razed and at a complete financial loss due to Allstate by design setting us up to fail.

As for underwriting...there has been no true underwriting with Allstate for at least the last 5 years. Their own employees tell us that in chat. And as for ASIC? Foreign vendors can't be any worse than the lowlifes and clueless wastes they have there. They are the Special Olympics of Allstate.

From a 34 year agent (who's fed up with this Transformative Growth BS)...this is no big deal at all with underwriting. They have not granted exceptions for years - not allowed to. We don't even try and ask for help unless there is a BLATANT error on the company's part. Agent or customer makes an error - tough s**t. So this development is not too alarming nor will it have much effect on daily activities.

To the last response - agents like you (not all agents) have no concept or understanding of insurance. You want approval to write any type of policy. The roof and house could be falling apart and you'll say please make an exception for the inspection. You only see your side with keeping the customer. Allstate has to pay out money for claims if the home isn't maintained. Or writing auto if the insured has multiple major violations and accidents you want an exception to write the policy. We are not taking a chance on that if they have a bad record. Agents like you are completely submissive to customers and have no backbone to explain to them

Who cares- no big change. Underwriting has been nonexistent for at least the past 5 years. Total waste of expenses. Chat was a joke because the two responses we ever got were “no” or “read the guidelines in Gateway”. I think the company is making the right move on this one.
