As a SM this is the 4th time in the past 5 years of having to layoff or restructure a senior associate. This associate was the last FT non manager associate in the store and besides myself the only person that can do receiving to the level that needs to be done. Oh yes, we've trained other associates in receiving, but it's tough and they often struggle. Does not help that we pay sh-t. My heart goes out to all the store associates that got laid off yesterday. It's quite amazing how fast this trainwreck has gone down hill and it's unfortunately quite impressive how Mark really f'd up and this is what we have left stores not staffed, no product to fill the shelves, other than our Own Brands. BBB has 6 months left with how fast we are burning through cash each day. They are going to hype up the loan, but once we pay the bills there will be roughly $50-70K worth of inventory that they will be able to buy for each store, which is a few trucks. It's simple math and BBB is broke. A big shout out to all the associates that have put everything we have into keeping the stores running. Now all that's left is OPTIMAL STAFFING, which they said a lot on yesterday's conference call. This is was optimal staffing looks like in a small volume store(my opinion, but what I've been hearing) 1 SM, 2 FT Sups, 1 PT Sup and bunch of high school kids looking for their first job, because we pay sh-t. IT's tough to run a store on 330 hours. Again, Bravo...

After many, many years with this company, I chose to move on. My job was secure for now. However, my gut was telling me to go. I feel for those that have put so much dedication into their jobs. The changes over the years, the challenges, the let downs, good and not so good. The cash won’t last. I know that my coworkers understand this. It’s a role of the dice and I don’t gamble. So, if you can, move on. There are plenty of opportunities out there. Good luck to all of you and if you got let go, there are always other possibilities and opportunities. I wish you all well. I truly mean that.
Thanks for saying like it is! From NJ! And Thank you!
There's a bunch of different scenarios they are looking at which includes Store Managers. A quote on the Corp call was said by a VP that they looking into different possibilities for Store Manager role.
FT receiving here, and it was a pretty easy decision not to get knocked down to PT, but especially knowing i'd lose severance and the fact that most stores will probably be closed in the next few years, i decided not to wait for the inevitable and take what little pay day i could. i feel for the keys in my store, they all are overworked as it was, and i feel for my SM. he just transferred to our store, and was probably the best SM i've had in my 16 years, but thanks to the shareholders using our company to pad their pockets, SM's like him and the OP get to just figure it all out on top of everything else. good luck everyone left
How long are the rest of full timers going to wait to get let go? How many days is it going to take?
Thanks for your honesty.
