Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

How much truth is there in that?

I hope it is not true that small layoffs are happening right now under the radar.

The goal of the summer student program is to not invest in the future here, it is to buy the loyalty of Phil in IT, Karen in accounting, or to patronize some executives friend by hiring their kid. Program is largely a waste of time.

MDs kid was assigned with our group a number of years ago and she worked bankers hours. Spent more time at Starbucks and shopping across the street than doing anything useful for us. Providing meaningful feedback would be career limiting moves so none of us did (or really cared to do so). Silver spoon syndrome. Totally wasted opportunity to have someone in who could have been groomed and potentially be in a management position now or very close to. Par for the course.

Understand that it is a business and I believe 2020 was the first publicly publicized layoffs that we've seen here, so of course they were going after the "dead weight" first. That being said, there were unethical decisions with the layoffs then in our BU and CBU. To which I am surprised none of the former staff tried to go after Pembina legally and involve the government.

This is also a company that assigns our summer student positions to children of current and former staff members. Not high performing talented kids who you can train and retain long term. I'd rather mentor than baby sit some hunger kid whose Dad works upstairs.

Like someone said here. Cut me my cheque and get hosed.

It's all a repeat of of the covid layoffs but on a smaller scale where our management and HR had no b@lls playing it safe going after the low hanging fruit and vulnerable types leaving all the rot and toxicity still in place. The company doesn't have what it takes to do what is right - which is exactly why there needed to be an external CEO brought in with some of his/her own people & advisors to change the culture and get rid of anyone they didn't care for and didn't fit in to their vision. What a gongshow...... just keep cutting me cheques there Scotty boy.

GBU (or should I say Facilities Division) is the same. Especially with deadweight managers (includes senior manager).

If the company is going after dead weight, they are targeting low hanging fruit. Dead weight useless middle managers and staff - who are all vastly over compensated - still collect paycheques in my BU. TSU baby!

Is this the same guy who was in tears crying about someone mowing their lawn in the middle of the day while WFH? The same clown who takes a liquored up two hour lunch at Hys? Wonderful. Id--ts.

It is happening , but it looks all the dead weight is being removed . This is a good thing .maybe people will actually do their jobs now instead of taking too many coffee breaks

Look for the post here about layoff process and severance to know how much these a-holes value us.

100% it is happening. We've lost some great people and like you stated: it's in Pembinas DNA to "fly under the radar".. with this stuff. Cowardly. If you looked at your boss the wrong way in 2018.. watch out. Sh1t company.

It’s happening. Typical, and normal for Pembina. Removing those who actually do their jobs and speak out when things aren’t right. Management doesn’t like people like that.
