Thread regarding Ford layoffs

3,000 + 8,000 or just 3,000?

I’m hearing about 3,000 cuts and also 8,000 cuts. Both or just 3,000?

@3sir+1ipmcPrh - now this is the typical Ford employee I have come to know! I like you - you are one of the few Ford employees being honest about who you are and the company and culture you represent! Just a nasty human being getting paid a great wage, thinking you can treat others poorly because you are so special being a Ford employee!

Please do not quit Ford Motor Company ever -- you are a model employee!

And don't worry about my transmission - I won't be begging your "highness" to help me fix my transmission - I sold your piece of junk product already. I don't blame Jimmy and Billy for the junk either - it was employees just like you that I blame! Jimmy and Billy couldn't identify a transmission if somebody put a sign right on it.

And by the way - you are lying! If you ever actually tried to help Ford customers with the junk you design and manufacture, it would be a non-stop, full-time job for you! You wouldn't have time to read websites, go shopping on company time, watch TV, etc. Have you not paid any attention to the number of recalls coming out weekly on Ford products?

You crack me up! And thanks for your middle finger and smiley face - you are really one bad-a-s-s (typical Ford employee) dude, aren't you?

@3dbm+1ipmcPrh -- the other $1.8B comes from "continuing" the decades long cutting of other American supplier jobs (making their families lose their jobs or reducing their salaries), ripping off your Michigan neighbors via back-room negotiations with the state of Michigan, and bought and paid US govt politicians giving your company special multi-year rebates, grants, special loans, etc. (so that other Americans can keep paying your overpaid wages, benefits, and bonuses). You are basically all welfare cheats! Acting like you are victims who deserve even more.

There is not anyone at Ford Motor Company that cares as long as they keep getting their paycheck. You were/are all fat, d-mb, and happy as long as you were getting paid. Look how happy you were getting your 105% bonus this year (vs the measly 50%) - because you were owed more at other peoples expense. As soon as you got the extra 55% you all went back to being satisfied, happy employees. Now you are being personally affected with job losses and your all whining about Billy and Jimmy destroying your company, that you care so much about.

Here is proof - look at the down arrows at previous posts in this thread that Ford employees are giving the posts of @3rel+1ipmcPrh and @3vdd+1ipmcPrh. Those posts were spot on - you are all part of the "family" ripping off/stealing from your fellow citizens and neighbors - justifying it to yourselves because you need to take care of your families, but only your families; you are more important than the families of suppliers that you have decimated over the past 3 decades; you all get paid extremely well - many for doing very little (in your own words on this website). You really all are part of the Ford "m-a-f-i-a" family. And now that someone is calling you out - you say no fair - you are going on a tangent - keep the discussions only to complaining about Billy and Jimmy and supporting just us! It is not us making these back-room govt deals, it is the management team and they are the ones that did it directly to our fellow citizens and neighbors. We just blindly supported them for years and decades as long as we kept our jobs and great wages/benefits.

Down arrows galore, but not one Ford employee with the ethics to even admit you are all part of the problem, not just Billy and Jimmy. You will keep ripping the rest of us off and justifying it to yourselves as long as you get the almighty dollar in return (and many more dollars than the average citizen in Michigan gets by the way, especially the ones who don't work for multi-billion dollar corporations making back-room deals). You all keep living in your fancy houses in Northville, Gross Pointe, Rochester, etc. (because you are owed more than others) You wouldn't be caught dead living in Garden City, Wayne, etc. You are all "Better" than that - even though you are just a bunch of welfare cheats/thieves using the system to financially better yourselves!

Awe - maybe the truth is hurting your feelings. I don't think you have the feelings/ethical soul to be hurt. Thieves never feel bad when they are stealing from others.

@3rel & @3vdd, I always tried to help a customer when I heard that they had a problem with a Ford product. I felt that it was my company and my responsibility to try to help. However in your case, I hope that I didnt do anything for you because you are a miserable F! and when the transmission goes out next time it comes through the floorpan and blows your ba!!s off.
middle finger and smiley face to you......

Even if the company fires 8,000 total at $150k average salary, the savings is only $1.2 billion. Long way to go to get to $3 billion. Not reachable, and certainly not while sustaining revenue from ICE vehicles. The Titanic is going down.

@1bkk ...According to NESE if you need to retire by Dec 01, you need to start the application 60 days in advance. You cannot start on Nov 30th and retire on Dec 01. Hence, Ford will get a pretty good idea of the number by the end of Oct 31st. Call NESE to confirm if you want. Thanks.

Except you are off by a month. They won't know the ramifications until 12 01, as they have until Nov 30th to retire.

3,000 + 8,000 = 11,000 people will be terminated.

Who cares. I don’t plan on sticking around to find out.

From what I understand ... 3000 cuts done. Waiting till end of Oct to see how many will file for retirement to save the Lumpsum which can run into 250,000 to 300,000 of loss if they wait until next year to retire or are let go next year. Once that number becomes clear, there will be another cut in November to get to 8000 cuts in total. All this makes sense now.

I really think the company can do right by itself by not having massive recalls and excessive, wait, really extremely excessive warranty costs from poor quality.

But that's just my humble opinion where the other chunk of cost is that could be cut.

Seriously why is this so hard to understand. Farley et al want to cut 3 Billion in cost. You can’t sell more and you can’t cut material & purchasing cost so the only thing left is headcount reductions.
$150,000 avg salary and benefits x 3,000 heads is only $450 million. Where do you get the other $2.55 Billion????

Does the total number (300 vs. 3000 or 800 vs. 8000) REALLY matter if YOU are selected?

Since none of us know the selection criteria, using statistical analysis to calculate your personal probability of being selected, is meaningless.
