Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Layoffs without process

There have been so many layoffs outside of performance management processes in the last year, how long can this ethically go on? People getting fired randomly and then replaced by friends of well connected people in the org puts the rest of us on edge, just sitting ducks for whoever isn't in the old club.

The kid should not be leading Finance, he would be ok doing Journal entries but that is it. Zero experience with Capital Markets, zero social skills and short man complex.

I would bet my house that he finishes close to last in any hockey/sports pool. Kid is d-mb with a huge safety net that enables the arrogance.

Better like hockey if you are in Finance - main way to get face time with the junior CFO who loves to ignore people unless they are invited to his hockey pool! Great way to promote/decide who should go rather than performance decisions being based on real business skills.

Not an HR person but as a leader I can say there’s usually way more behind the scenes than what everyone sees on the surface. It sucks letting people go and sometimes there are ethics items involved that aren’t performance related so while it doesn’t seem as apparent up front, there is good reason but can’t be disclosed to the broader group because of confidentiality.

I’d love to see your data and not hear about your hurt feelings.

This is an unethical company. People are not important at CVE so don’t waste a career here.
