Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Fired or PIP or Separation Agreement

From the message below do you think I am getting fired, or put on a PIP or getting a Separation Agreement?

Things have not been going well (long story, only partially at fault) and I was sidelined quite a while ago, I have no active work assignments at this time.

Hi, my name is XXXXX and I am an Employee Relations Consultant at Cisco. I have attempted to contact you by phone, and your work and personal email accounts, but I have not heard back from you. It is important that we speak by end of business day tomorrow, August 25th, regarding your employment.

Super weird.....employee relations consultant? Cisco doesn't need PIP anymore....it just lays folks off, period. Heck, there is no tracking of performance anyway....right?!? (I'm laughing because we all know that managers do it behind the curtains and off the records....makes layoffs clean and easy).

Just leave already. You say things aren't going well, you got sidelined and now you're playing dead. What do you actually expect is going to happen?

I have a similar experience with Oracle OCI. I was able to find a job internally. But the manager gave me hard time for 4 months before I find a new job.

PIP is actually just a tool to fire you.
Separation agreement is an euphuism; that's almost to fire you but you not to sue the company.

Do not sign ANY of the doc you're asked to sign unless you want to leave.

If you can't be reached by phone/email, then who tf do you think you are? Do you expect cisco to pay you while you do nothing? Get the 'ell outa here buddy.

Well what’s the update? Did you talk to the Employee Relations Rep? Did you get laid off?

Hide under your deck, close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears; they will never find you. Worked for me.

On the other hand, having no active work assignments is a bad sign.

Try not to stand out. Just go with the flow and you should be fine.

It reads like a phishing attempt to me. I confirmed that that person actually works for Cisco, lol.
