Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

Feeling underpaid?

I feel very, very underpaid ever since I learned how much more some of my former colleagues are paid in their new companies. One of them is now paid twice as much and doesn't have as much stress either. Until I get a new offer, I will only be doing the bare minimum.

I decided to leave ascension. Once I started looking I was shocked at the difference between what I was getting at ascension and what other companies thought I was worth. I had 2 offers within weeks of job searching. Landed a job that payed 65% more. If you are worried about layoffs, do your self a favor and update your resume and put yourself out there. You’ll be very surprised.

Why would you keep going above and beyond for a company with a proven track record of slashing jobs as soon as you're not needed...he-l, months AHEAD of you not being needed?

The cuts were going on for years. Most people were doing the work of AT LEAST 2 people, usually more. And for what? To get canned, too.

You won't have a problem finding another job. Don't worry about the 'new' people, they are adults and can work wherever they want. Any issues are ultimately the responsibility of THE EMPLOYER, not you. Can't believe anyone on this board is trying to guilt you into going above and beyond --- they are either management or PR folks.

I recently left AT. When I got the offer for my new job (a 50% increase, by the way), I was shocked at the realization of how underpaid I really was. However, I still worked just as hard until my last day, because I won't debase my work ethics. My salary doesn't equate who I am as a person. Also, sandbagging is not fair to your coworkers, who are probably really new to the company with all of the turnover that has been happening.

Make looking for a new job your primary goal. Use LinkedIn, and start connecting with recruiters. Wish I didn't feel I have to remain anonymous, otherwise I'd tell you how I quickly found work (within a week of starting my search). The jobs are out there. Take your PTO to look for the new gig - you don't want to leave any on the table like I did.

That is not very smart. Your next potential employer may call your boss for a reference. "Oh, he just does the minimum." Not saying don't leave, but your strategy is short-sighted.

That’s the way to do it. Anyone paid too much is eligible to be laid off this year.
