Time to Unionize?

At what point do we stop letting executive ‘leadership’ push us around?

They have taken away benefits that effect tenured employees, first the PTO cap and now the pension freeze.

They have favored young employees with new and expanded benefit offerings, like expanded maternity leave and student loan assistance.

They have given such paltry ‘merit increases’ that real salaries go DOWN year over year due to inflation.

They forced us to get vaccinated, or lie about our religious beliefs to avoid it.

They have rewarded the brown-nosers over the experienced, leading to a mass exodus of institutional knowledge and a chorus of cheerleaders too afraid to disagree.

They have spent MILLIONS on high powered consultants to tell us how to run our business, then failed to execute time and time again. PWC, McKensey, E&Y and Deloitte are never going to know our business better than experienced tenured employees!

They have laid off hundreds of employees, planned poorly for how to get the work done without them, and spiraled into a situation where the employees that haven’t left yet are either over-worked or apathetic.

It seems to me that the status quo isn’t working and leadership isn’t listening. Maybe its time to organize. Maybe its time to form a Union.

Coming from a union environment, it won’t help. Union employees rarely get merit or bonuses and their benefits aren’t as rich. You also have to pay union dues, which is 2-3% of your annual salary. Unions are good for mediation, but that’s it.

If you try to form a union, yes, there's a chance you'll be fired. So, you have a choice - you can take a chance and fight for yourself and your co-workers by trying to form a union, or you can watch the company continue to take any and all benefits away from you until you've got nothing. Forming a union is hard work, but the benefits to you and your coworkers, to your families, far outweigh the costs. CF Leadership will lie to you about what will happen if you try to form a union, so will anyone in leadership at any other company, but ask anyone in a union if they think the fight is worth it. The ONLY thing you own is your labor, and until you organize a union you won't be paid fairly for that labor.

Associates tried to unionize years ago and were threatened if they did so they would lose their jobs.

Hate to bring this up, but if you’re still at CF after what’s transpired over the past couple of years, you ARE NOT “Top Talent.”

So please - unionize. Will love to see what happens!

Read the Kaiser Permanente story. Before they unionized they were experiencing the same stuff current CF employees are.

If you want to unionize you need to organize - that means talking to your fellow employees, in person if possible. You need to find out who you can organize with.

I would be 1000% for unionizing. I've said this YEARS ago way before the current sad state of affairs. It's the only way to keep things honest, unfortunately.
