Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

PEB 250

22% raise over the contract. Low end of the deal. Back wages, $1,000 for working every year of the contract.

Health. 15% of the total cost of the plan every year staring on Jan 23. Figure $500 from $228. On a $40,000 health program that the carriers are tiring to claim, and sold. This will go up yearly.

One additional personal leave day. That we cant use anyway.

Attendance The PEB punted.

Work Rules the PEB punted.

The other crafts, M/W ect. I didn't read. Sorry.

I say Strike!!!!

We have to stand up to the carriers. We kept this country going during covid and this is the thanks we get. The money is not the best but im ok with is as long as they address the quality of life issues. Ive sacrificed so much for the last 16 years is has to stop. I work for CN and we dont even shut down on christmas! You have a schedule but they never keep you on it. Your in the hotel for 18 to 24 hrs . You might be off Friday and Saturday but you dnt tie up till Friday night . Its unreal the stuff we deal with. I say give us at least 7 extra PLDS or lets go on STRIKE!

The shippers and their lobbyists (which greatly outnumber ALL RR lobbyists BTW) will gladly push to add pro shipper STB amendments to any "must pass" back to work legislation.

I'm voting to strike and I don't know anyone thinking otherwise.

If the current WH and Congressional leadership, that is supposed to be pro labor, fail to deliver in the end, so be it. Where they truly stand needs to be known BY ALL unions one way or the other.

The carrier comments TO the PEB that labor contributes nothing to generate profits is probably not going to be well received by many legislators even ones that are not pro union. That was an unwise thing to say.

I don't care where you see the numbers at! If you release them from a CAP you'll never get it back, and the commenter below about less going into your RRB is correct! Unfortunately, the Dems know they're on a sinking ship and we're an expendable part of the constituency! If we shut the economy down, the general public will blame them for backing us! We're in the area of 150,000 employees, so deemed expendable!

$40,000 a year for health ins? In my craft if one opts out of the ins you only get around $350 more a month. If the carrier will pay me $40,000 more a year NOT to use their health insurance I will gladly opt out.

As far as I'm concerned keep the back pay and keep the CAP on medical at 15%! Can't miss what I never had! If we let that Genie out of the bottle, it's never going back in! If no 15% CAP then I say strike, and the democrats can reap their reward come Mid-Terms! Joe just proved how much of a rail man he is, after all his claims! They just lost the rail vote!

The health care costs are directly deducted from railroad retirement. That is why the company is so eager to share the costs. If healthcare costs go up 10% railroad retirement go down 10%.

I’m going by what the PEB recommended which says.. 2023- $321, 2024-$340, 2025-$366.. Need to take contract, it will be worse if Congress tells us what it will be

Just took the Carriers $136,000 average and figured $40,000 of that was heath care. 15% of that is $6000. Divide that by 12 gets you your monthly family health care payments. Now, guessing on how the carriers are actually playing the costs. The PEB showed they were in the Carriers corner so go with what they showed you. your call brother. I say Strike.

You got better info. Please put it out.

Last month,I worked 229 hours. Did UP care? No. They paid, not well but they paid. Something has to change. Me, going back to ag where I love what I'm doing. Or I am paid to do what the job entails.
