I feel sorry for everyone who is affected, but I still can't believe that there are those who are surprised about getting cut after their many years of dedicated work for this company. What makes people still think that loyalty is important here? No it's not.

When corporations went to the 401k instead of pensions (something that you could actually retire on) instead of a small percent match and dependent on how the equities (stock) market does over time to fund your retirement (FYI: 2022 is a bear market - 2011 - 2021 was an inflated stock market driven up my low interest rates supported by $9+ trillion in money printing) the employee basically have nothing substanstantial to rely on anymore for retirement. True, corporations do not have to offer an 401k match but do you think you can retire on a 3% - 6% match less taxes at cash out? No you can not anymore unless you get lucky over time and contribute a lot more to your 401k and the equities (stock) market has to perform right over time.
Welcome to the US " Corporate Sausage Factory ". Maybe if you ask really nice they'll throw in a layoff t-shirt to go with the other 47 that I don't wear.
Just wait until all the people who got fired for not taking the jab sue. Lots more layoffs coming then as they won't have the money to pay you after the class action.
You are only worth what you do today. You got a paycheck for what you did last week. That’s all you’re entitled to.
