I don't know about you, but ever since I started working here a few years ago, I have never been under more pressure than lately. Anyone else?
I assume that it is a tactic to get as many people as possible to leave voluntarily... I think that they are giving signals in every way that it is high time to polish our resumes.
Of course there is no pressure on the R/D engineers. It must be nice to make six figures from the comfort of your own home and while other who don't make half that do the real work for you. I'm a contractor in R/D and have also been listed as the alternate on all of our testbeds and supporting equipment.
I know exactly how you feel. I'm a contractor so that means I'm a second class citizen. There's nothing quite like watching the piles of work grow, get told you have less time to do it in, receive little to no support and have the decision that you aren't being overworked be decided by people who haven't worked onsite since the beginning of the pandemic.
I've only seen one time they laid off contractors at my facility. And it was because the new manager was an id--t and decided to cut more than was asked without knowing what they did. A month later he had to rehire the ones that he had cut to back to their old jobs. That was if they decided to work for him. otherwise he still needed 4 people again.
No pressure here. Been here for 7 years. The first 2 were in production and yes that was stress. Now in engineering R/D and no pressure.
As someone that comes from Apple as an engineer, HP is by far significantly less pressuring than Apple. What org are you in specifically? HP may be boring at times and internal politics are just really d-mb, but pressuring or stressful is definitely not something I would say about HP. Why do you think I left Apple?
You have it lucky compared to other companies. Dell may be your only alternative to a more relaxed company but I heard that company has a really toxic work environment. You wouldn't survive other companies. If you think HP is stressful, you may want to reconsider many things: your contributions, your position in the company, and your career.
Truthfully, I don't even think this is a real person from HP. No one has ever complained about their work at HP, even with this hybrid work environment. Unless you're an executive that is director level or higher, then I can see how you think your work creates a lot of pressure... or perhaps you think you're under pressure because you think you're going to get laid off with current cost reduction plans? That would also make sense. In those two cases, I'm sorry you feel that way and I wouldn't blame you. It's tough being an executive and it's scary to make sure you won't get laid off.
Relaxing? Sounds like you don't have enough to do or have one of those cinchy marketing jobs. Maybe both.
HP is the most relaxing place to work. I am hear for nearly 20 years.
