Thread regarding VMware layoffs

They don't know what they are doing anymore

I have the feeling that the management has totally lost control. All these promotions just to keep some employees a little longer..I literally think they end up getting a counter-effect because many are just waiting to be promoted in order to increase their chances of getting a better job somewhere else.
Have you noticed how many people leave immediately after the promotion?

So funny that no one recognizes the sarcasm. You will clearly fail the sarcasm test in your next interview! Better start to practice...

I'm just to pleased to see that VMware is moving forward with the 2030 agenda and that they issued the ESG report. Good work Ragu and Nicola.

All managers with less than 5 reports are toast.

'product' managers certainly can go. We're eternally understaffed for trained project and program management.

I’d be glad to see the inept project managers let go, not sure how they got hired in the first place.

So much mediocrity in leadership here. Several already started advertising upcoming promotions to people they want to keep around. Promotions in January which will be a larger crowd. Crazy

I turned one down to avoid being a bigger target.

Broadcom will just be salivating at this. Will been seen as top heavy, therefore easy way for them to reach their profit margin - min circa 65% and within software 90%. .

Also worth mentioning, sometimes a bigger title doesn't help in the job search process. Each company has a different view of what is a director versus a VP. And in some cases, a company may say "We have too many (insert title here)" and they may pass on you because you are a VP, but would've hired you if you were a Director. You just never really know I guess.

They don't know what they are doing anymore

Editor:
They didn't know before.
Tighten this up, and elaborate. Perhaps just say

They were an obscene group. They never knew what they are doing, except to further their own interests and laugh at the plebes taking a salary. They all knew that deferred compensation, change in control clauses and pillager-levels of stock grants were the way to go. In their own minds, they were masters of the universe. In the real world however, they were just addled people with contacts who cos-played with real people's lives.

In fairness I would say most leaving were more than half way out the door before they got the promotion news. Also many promotions due to vacancies that already opened and hard to attract external talent so easier to promote from within and to try to retain talent. That doesn’t mean that anyone has lost control there are a lot of folk trying to work with what they have right now. On the people side also completely understandable many will leave as security today is worth more than a payoff tomorrow for many…. It’s a no win situation…

Crazy number of Promotions and healthy raises for all of us means they did the math and they must finish this very quickly. It is officially stated that deal will be closed between November 22- October 23 but Common sense tells me that they will wrap up in November or early December this year.
