Thread regarding Rent-A-Center Inc. layoffs

People leaving very quickly

I've been here too long. I'm literally stuck here. I hope that I will receive a new offer soon. On the other hand, newbies are staying shorter and shorter. Have you noticed that too? Recently, one person left after only couple of weeks here. This is something that management should be concerned about.

How to fix this company in 6 easy steps

  1. close stores that cant make any money/cant make credit goals on a regular basis.
  1. consolidate store locations. There is no reason to have a RAC every 5 miles. They are not Dollar General for Pete's sake.
  1. Ki-l off the every other week sales events. By having these "sales events" they are burning out the employees and their own customer base.
  1. Scrap the Decision Engine. Algorithm based sales DO NOT WORK. Its to easy to commit fraud which leads to all kinds of headaches.
  1. Have the right people in place. If that means hiring from the outside to get the right sales manager, store manager then DO IT. The high turn over rate this company experiences leads to poorly trained personal getting themselves way over their heads and screwing up the system.

and finally...(and in my opinion the most important step)

  1. TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. cross train all members of a store in CAM/SAM/CAR positions. If everyone has at least a basic idea of the next person's job is, things will go a lot smoother in the long run.

For the record, I was employed as a SAM for two years with this company. In my time there I saw no less than 25 people leave. Including 5 Store managers. I left because of stress and anxiety as well has a lack of home life which finally broke me.

Before I wrap this up, I would like to offer a optional step 7.

Any Store Manager that refuses to ride with the times has gotta go. I have seen to many Managers that have 10 + years experience and refuse to adapt to the changes that have come down the pipe, in my experience at least, have caused nothing but headaches between the store and DMs resulting in a even more toxic work environment.

Just my two cents. Blessed be everyone.

This job is 1 of the most depressing job I've ever been at . No one ever asks hey how's your day it's only sales ,collecting that's it what happened to the human side of things . Buddy of mine was in a car accident bad one everyone knew and no one even said anything it's how many sales you getting today this Job is the worst no human element more like robots. Wonder turnover is high 8 months of he-l trying to get out by years end .

It's all about how you treat people the dms have no clue how to talk to people at all and they talk to their store managers like dirt and it rolls downhill and the store managers will treat you like your sub-human and people quit seen it happen so many times .

Nothing new it's the pressure getting people to pay you their expectations are ridiculous you have managers threatening your job everyday and I mean everyday to get people to pay you send people out in the heat to do deliveries while your in the ac asking what's taking so long like someone else said it a post somewhere on here you never get vacation time .They want like 40 sales every few weeks and that stupid auto-pay people take themselves off and they blame you for it like what I've worked for this place for almost a year and I want out myself but co-workers seen maybe 25 people come and go some in 1 day first day on the job some last until they go knocking on doors for money and get threatened had one guy come back said it ain't my stuff you go knock on their door I ain't getting into a fight for a xbox place is crazy trying to be positive idk the future of this place I do need a job and am trying very hard but sometimes it's just impossible to meet their demands on credit and sales stuff is to expensive at rac just is if it was somewhat reasonable maybe able to get some sales but when you get someone paying on something for years it's hard to keep them on the hook paying really is pay is okay and I do try
