Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Do you get a signing bonus?

Signing bonus. Do you get one when hired on? I know they give you money to help with relocation but what if you are from Houston?

Thanks

My hiring manager was very clear with me that Exxon doesn’t do any type of bonus (outside of the RSU’s mentioned below). Doesn’t hurt to ask, but unless you’re in sone special discipline, if they say no, it’s a no. Vacation is also not something that can be negotiated on.

If you think you have a good case for why their offer didn’t quite do it, ask for more base salary. I was able to do that based on the overall compensation structure when I hired on.

Correct. The answer is no.
And, btw, if you're from Houston to begin with, your value in the long-term is pretty short.
You are a short-term hire.
You know too much about the workings these ways.

No. In fact, “bonus” is not in the company’s vernacular unless and until your CL is high (which typically requires several years of service) and you are performing in the top ~20% or so. And then, it’s only via restricted stock with a ridiculously long and bifurcated vesting period (1/2 at 3 years, 1/2 at 7 years). These days, people feel their tenure with the company is in jeopardy with each succeeding year of service.
