Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Citi has a management problem

So many managers, most of them promoted in the last five years or so, are not qualified to be managers. They got where they are based on their specific background or by being friends with their boss. Citi has to replace these managers with people who are good at their job and who also know how to manage people. That would solve so many problems and reduce attrition drastically.

If a person from the outside feels like they are qualified for management regardless of age or experience, then Citi should give them the role because it’s something they really really want. Unless they are Caucasian of course then they should not be hired.

No kidding. People left tampas aml fiu compliance program indroves because of favoritism in their hiring of ‘managers’ who had NO previous managing experience and were also selected because they ‘supposedly’ were perfect on their case reviews but it was found out later that it was all a buddy buddy system. These managers were under 25 and never even managed a souse or kids ,but tgey can manage a ten year veteran with a family! Untill citi drops their cr---y vax mandate for new hires, they will never have a respectable aml program. They had one of the best, but no more!

Totally agreed. Promoting friends and some senior executives friends and creating office politics disappointed real hard working talents. A group of citi people are being rewarded and paid by taking credit of others’ work and always talk negative about your work during review but do not how to do work themselves,Called themself managers and got to the position from relationships. They are not confident about their position and why always pick on the smarter and harder working employees under them.

You are an asset, a commodity to be traded, used and discarded at will. The only value you bring can be summed up in “what have you done for me lately” beyond that, you are and asset.

I have never met my manager. Ignores my emails, but knows how to email me when he needs something.

Agreed. Some may have been good at their previous roles but early on show signs of being way over their head as many have no real management experience. The good news is lucky you gets to join them in their social and leadership experiments as they settle in to their new role. :(
