Unfortunately Moni is the leading candidate, it seems now . Why ???

  1. It seems when he was hired from GE Healthcare ( I suspect that an offer was made or promised that once 3M spins out 3M Healthcare, which it did 2 years after Moni joined as CFO) that he will be given a plum ( CEO) position in the new spin out.
  1. Moni has already hired his chosen finance guys ( at least two now...surely more in the near future) from GE Healthcare and they are SVP level people. He is building his team, slowly but surely.

Good luck to 3M healthcare spin off with Moni as the chief ( well not that there is much to look forward to for the Remain Co...or whatever is left after the ongoing wildfire is over in 3M)

Monish is quoted as saying:

“Leadership is all about making a positive impact on another person’s life. Leaders should serve their employees by finding ways to help them achieve their potential by being fully committed to their growth. To do this we need to be open to new ideas, be empathetic, listen well, celebrate diversity, be transparent and set clear goals.”

If he believes what he said, why hasn’t he lived up to his own rhetoric?

Yakity sax would be a fitting anthem to the M&M boys, but may I recommend a dirge, to reflect the funeral of this great company that is dying under atrocious "leadership"

Monish would spend and risk a million dollars in liabilities, to avoid paying any 3M employees $.50 in incentives or incentive pay even if earned. Heck he would frown on someone buying a box of doughnuts for the rube plant workers.. Mike and Monish the two that brought 3M company to its knees with poor hires and lack of any real leadership. Waste more money on consultants you bunglers. Meddling middle managers you would not hire to run a Subway sandwich shop at 3M Center, let alone a Fortune 500 company. What I wouldn't give or pay to have someone pipe in Yakkety Sax the Benny Hill theme, during a company huddle when these two stooges speak. WINNING, AT losing, every day. Mike and Monish would mess up a one car parade.

Re: Is spinco still possible? Or going down together with remainco after all?

Mike and the legal guy presented on the lawsuit developments to the wider 3M audience few weeks ago to quell any fears. Message was this move to block the spinoff was to be expected and is par for the course, has no legal merit, etc. After all that had transpired by that point though, I was skeptical of everything they said. Felt like I was listening to used car salesmen.

Hopefully neither. He is a horrible leader.

He will be next CEO because his mission has not been accomplished yet. To fully ruine a 120 years old company is harder than what he thought.

Is spinco still possible? Or going down together with remainco after all?

There is a lawsuit in federal court to prevent the sale of the HCBG. The intent is to prevent decoupling of 3M assets from Aearo.

Sadly, I think the impotent board of directors has fallen in love with him. I expect he will get to choose whichever role he wants. I see him taking over the health care company because the rest of 3M is under the threat of bankruptcy.

If you wish to bury 3M and doom the health care SELL-OFF, put Monish in charge of either one or both.

If you said to Monish, “Penny for your thoughts”, you’d get change.
