Allstate doesn't care enough to know who the best employees are, who does the most work, who has the best skillset, and so on. That's why there's no point in even trying to make an extra effort here.
Why there are still those who strive to be visible and valued, I don't know... I feel sorry for them because in the end they will be burned out and disappointed.

I deserve a promotion, you deserve a promotion, we all deserve a promotion. Enough already. Since you know how the game is played, either play it or move through your day to day quietly
I left the company two months ago but my co-workers and I always discussed how mediocrity recognized mediocrity at that place. An unimpressive upper manager would choose to promote another mediocre leader underneath him and everyone was puzzled. It was like nobody wanted to look bad so the hardest workers would never get recognized or promoted. Many years of that type of behavior has the company where it is currently.
