Thread regarding 3M layoffs

October will be blow peoples mind

going to be a month to forget about for a lot of reasons, this will be particularly hard for European plants especially UK plants as energy prices will go through the roof. EMEA and North Europe will have a Russian Roulette (pardon the pun) style shootout over who closes down for good as the EVP PO and other EO Staff run the eye over financially inept plants, going to be a tough choice as going by comments on this site , most plant managers are a big reason for failings at site level. Also going to be a disasterous month for the stock market price going double digit.

Heard big changes are coming for all BGs via a VP. Also have heard numerous rumors of LSS program ending and transitioning to a PMO office. Timing is October via multiple sources. It’ll be a “small to medium bang” announcement per another VP. Should be an interesting month.

And apparently with that announcement about moving FMS Quality to DMSD for relevant people and renaming FMS Film MT & Engineering to a new name they laid off people in the EA (Engineering Analysis) and Pre-Tint/Primer coating group. Also this was communicated only via a Yammer post and didn’t mention any job eliminations. The cowardice in this “leadership” team is astounding.

And one last thing thought was funny. Our lovely GE misfit LSS head, Scott Jeffers, is championing bringing in some consulting firm to the Hutchinson plant to run some kaizens. John Kim and the 3MEx leader are also apparently pushing this. More money paid to consultants! There’s a whole group of people in the 3MEx group, engineers, BBs, supervisors, etc. that can lead this better than these people can. Accenture, MARS and now this Shingjutsu love Mother Mining!
