Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Remember when GM was a great company?

When management knew what it was doing and the culture was not toxic? When we didn't have to worry about layoffs all the time and we got proper raises and could advance in our career if we put in the work? When we only had to do one job for the pay we were getting and not two or three because so many people have left/been cut? I do and I miss that place.

When GM was spying on Ralph Nader. Late 60s, early 70s.

When was that? The years I spent there, you got promoted from kissing up and who you know, not your talents.

GM has always been a huge ego fest, and the customer never seemed to enter any conversations. I met very few people who cared about doing the right thing.

It's been downhill since the 80's. GM is the incredible shrinking car company.
