retired on disability a couple years ago , I was 62 then , my wife and I are both paying for medicare now to the tune of 340 a month with a 7500 per year cap on out of pocket , I agree that the rr should psay all the health insurance because they make enough money from the people , just thought I would let you know what to expect , after paying into it for 48 years I thought it would be less.
What union !
The only reason most of these people become union officials is because they enjoy the time off to do union" business". The extra money is also very much appreciated. They certainly dont do it to better there fellow workers work life. Its all about themselves. No wonder nothing good gets accomplished . You are better off just hiring a bunch of lawyers every few years to get the next contract,it would be alot cheaper.
Who are you kidding? Unions are basically powerless anymore because no one will stick together and the upper crust is just bleeding us dry. If we can be overridden by the upper crust then bottom line is we are powerless. Sure we need the union to keep our jobs, but overall it’s a few leading the masses. When the masses speak, the few don’t listen. I’m proud to be a union member, but struggle with the idea that our leaders are just sitting back driving nice cars, wearing nice clothes, eating the best of food, all on our money. Also our dues went up even when we didn’t have a raise for years. How can they justify that? How can you justify that? I just hope that someday we can vote those b-ms out. Good luck everyone.
"Whats the point of a union"?
Go look on Indeed.com and lookup some of our jobs, you'll see the answer to your question. Most of the non-union outfits pay around 1/2 what we make to do the same job.
“Beck Objectors “
“Fair Share Fee “
Civil rights Act of 1871 ,42 U.S.C Ss1983 , or if applicable under the national railway labor act …
Union Objector … Look it up ! Pay reduced union dues to maintain seniority Cuz its a union shop . If this is forced on you there is an option ☝🏻
The point of the union is to make sure that overtime is distributed in a fair and impartial manner among the crafts. Well worth the $100/month expense. The carrier would give all the OT to their select chosen gold star stuck ups and the rest of us would have to get 2nd jobs when we needed a little extra $$$.
So what’s the point of a union?
They can do that.
I'll impose daily failures and stoppages :)
