What job do you (or did you) do?

Curious what job those who post here have / or had? I want to understand the bitterness and anger that's regularly on display and where it's coming from.

I ask this because the anonymity of the forum make every post seem like trolling or a delusional tirade.

First, even if it were true the employee wouldn't let anyone know, especially some blabber mouth that would post it in the internet. Second, how could you possibly know that someone is doing during WFH?

I know some Ford employees who do nothing and work from home. They are getting 6 figure income from Ford and working on home renovations. They also get paid for home renovations for our neighbors. What is wrong with this company?

@OP occasional viewer here. ITO engineer. Not bitter, have a much better job now @ a company that truly values and rewards my skills and talents. It is however, heartbreaking to watch Ford “leadership” destroy the company. In my position at Ford I interacted with all Ford IT and ITO on IT projects and problem solving. Over 25 years I had a really good view and understanding of the capabilities and personalities of the GSRs and “leaders”. There was at best 10% that I would drop everything to help out on projects and problem solving because I respected them and vice-versa. The other 90% well, time and time again they either showed themselves as incompetent / lazy / looking for someone to scapegoat for their problem. The disturbing part is that “leadership” has systematically eliminated the 10% who was actually competent both in GSR and LL ranks. My brother in law is part of the 90% club and is still @ Ford. He is one of those incompetent loafers who spends his working day on yard work and watching TV. The jerk still tries to shame me into do his Ford work @ family get together.

Haha! Bracket dept. if nothing else that showed how little Farley knows about his own business, and how tone-deaf he is to understanding the workers. Bill should have canned him immediately after that meeting. But then Bill is just as clueless and tone-deaf.

@OP. ITO Engineer here. My anger with this company is based on seeing the incompetence of management, the lack of a clear direction, the foolish decisions taken daily that are destroying a once great company, and condemning thousands of employees to find new jobs.

My bitterness is related to the deafness of management, the disregard of the technical advice from Engineers like me by the non technical people in management positions, the increasing amount of loafers in the Friends and Family plan, plus the promotion of these incompetent loafers to management positions, the push of leftish ideologies (like the reverse racism masked under affirmative action) unto employees, the constant lies from upper management, the bashing of the employees' skills by the CEO, the never ending reorgs.

It was bad enough when all the competent folks were pulling for uncle Henry. I fear the last bit of talent is about to walk out the door.

Jim Hackett and his dream to stop selling cars comes full circle.

I hope you all realize nobody outside I’d the metro Detroit area gives a rats a$$ if ford goes bankrupt.

This plus infinity. Although I was retirement eligible, when my job was eliminated in August, I got this postcard. Funny thing I had not made up my mind to officially retire when I got the post card. Really really low to send this message out to people who’s jobs were eliminated (basically fired) and they were not really allowed to retire early.

Thing is if Ford had allowed early retirement, they could have saved themselves some cash ( 6 months early retirement vs. 9 months severance. They can’t even do this correct…

So I will not troll you. I was in Marketing Sales and Service. Loyal for 30+ years and a top achiever for many of the years with Ford. Called on dealers for 20+ years.

I have drank the kool-aid of many CEOs, remember: BLIs, Ford 2000, force ranking ABC, Quality/Quality/Quality, 6.0L Diesel, etc…

Ford has no cohesive, strategy, and they are doomed to fail no matter how they try. Employees, dealers, suppliers have lost all confidence with management. Same old stuff just rinse and repeat. I give Ford less then a 50% chance to exist in the next 5 years. They will not make it thru the upcoming Recession.

The numerous people who were sirpd and were not quite retirement eligible are very upset to get "congratulations on your retirement" emails and postcards. That is devastating. That is why they are upset.

The many people who only want a voluntary offer are very upset a voluntary is not being offered. It is not right. That is what a lot of people are upset about that I know.
