Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

NO !

You will pay more for employee contributions to health care in 23/24 , conductors will have weekly PWS like Engineers in yard service with zero compensation . 48hrs to place is gone and another win again ? The one paid day will be at the company’s discretion win again ? $1000 bonus per year will not cover health care rates and be flat taxed this is worse than recommended . This is sh-t compares to the section 6 notice …15/1 days sick , Health goes up , and company wins on every level .

Ok healthcare not bad. I have yet to see anything concrete about working the train crews excessively. Also the agreement call for the unions and companies to negotiate that stuff among themselves. Ha ha!! What kind of cr-p is that? I thought we were in negotiations!! So now we are to negotiate to negotiate. It’s a joke people. Open your eyes. Also any paid sick days instead of the joke they offered before? I haven’t heard yet.

I've been a railroader for over 20 yrs. Do I agree with everything in this so call contract no I don't. However, the health care cost, I have to say we have it pretty good. I have a son that works in the ER at a major University Hospital. He pays 190.00 weekly with 4000.00 deductible ( this is in network) for their medical insurance only for him and his wife. If they was to have a child they would have to pay more because it moves them into another column and it goes up to 245.00 weekly.

Hold your ground. Companies can do better. Don’t let them fool you. Push back in them hard cause realistically they will whacking more jobs in the next few years through outsourcing. The company always plans ahead. I wouldn’t be surprised if they aren’t training crews to run locomotives. The way things are changing and with testing and new technology, the crews will be replaced with all computer controlled tech. I’d say 5 years from now. So, push back and get as much as you can now before your job is sold to the highest bidder.
