Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

The split into two independent companies

The news of the plan to separate NCR into two companies removed any dilemma as to whether I should leave here. I immediately sent as many applications as possible.

Anyone have a positive opinion on this? I think chaos will follow.

When I asked a former TM about what the benefit to me would be getting Cisco Ciena, salary bump? He responded, “the benefit is added overtime opportunities, that is the pay increase”.
Lol, Thing is there are plenty OT opportunities just running retail and financial service already without the additional all hours networking requests thrown in.

As a CE who covers Retail and Network calls I have received no increase since taking on these insane networking tasks including Cisco, Ciena, and the others. A lot of training went in but definitely wish we had the choice and wasn’t pushed on me and my team member. Management really needs to evaluate what they’re doing as there is a huge lack of actual leadership and common sense which includes my TM and TL. They are so focused on job first and completing calls that common sense and the human element go out the window. Cannot find another job fast enough and can’t wait until the day I give notice. I feel that they are pushing certain people out quietly by some of the things they pull on us.

I am in Finance. We all know we will be split between the two companies and then our job will be off shored. Of course I am looking for a new job before they kick me to the curb. NCR has become a sh-t company loyal to itself ONLY! No respect for employees anymore, NCR looks down on us like we are just disposable trash.

Nope, I am IT and not happy. My department will be split like every other department.

Seems like a lot of NCR folks visiting this forum are customer engineers?

BU's that don't directly contribute to the bottom line are considered OVERHEAD on the company books. You can be removed or replaced by outsourced employees at any time. Take it from someone that knows the books and company rationale for many years now.

The difference here is it’s basically simple to split up sales and admin. Cutting up CS and parts will be harder. Some areas CE’s cover both ATM and retail. Who goes where?

This whole deal is FUBAR

When NCR split off Terradata, employees were spun off to TD too. You had no choice other than to leave if you didn't accept the change. This split could have similar and different ramifications if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly. One thing on my mind is inevitably one company will be stronger than the other. Do you want to transition to the weaker of the two or stay with the stronger of the two? Will you have a choice? Will the benefits for both companies be identical ? As soon as more is known will trigger the stay or get out of town decision many will make. Depending on how many people jump ship could make the work load even more obscene than it is now. Good luck

Cool cool cool but why do area leaders communicate with their d-mb CEs over yammer? Lol.

There was no added CE benefit to becoming Cisco, one of the great failures of NCR was not showing appreciation for employees who added skills, no bump, no raise was based on if an employee added a Cisco cert. Techs became disillusioned with added training as all it did was lead to more headaches. The most highly trained CE’s I worked with felt “used” and “tricked”. It was a moral ki---r.

Good question when it comes to the signed offer letter and do benefits remain the same. Hard to say at this time. I was on a call yesterday and my Manager spoke about the split briefly. ATM CE asked about network calls going to the E Commerce team and away from ATM group. Will be a while until that happens so don’t get too excited. Cisco just changed their cloud app to handle their calls so all Cisco trained CEs must test their logon and be ready. Sounds like a lot of CEs didn’t do that and a lot of people scrambling now. Like in previous posts hopefully I am out of here well before this split goes through. Not a good idea only having a few people handling network calls on your team as our call volume is not that low.

Don't believe the hype. It's being split up to be sold off separately. Good luck!

Anyone experienced in this before? Once a new company is formed do existing employees need another signed offer letter ? Benefits/tenure etc does it remain or change?
