Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Yammer Support Group for 3M Employees

3Mer here. know this is a layoff commentary site but I just have to say I'm really enjoying reading all these threads and comments! It's been VERY therapeutic given the current state of 3M. One of the only reasons I've hung on as an employee this long is because of the Golden Handcuffs. Given I work in HCBG, its only a matter of time till Monish reveals a buy out for the pension. In a way, I'm sure I'll feel relieved when that day comes. And then I can ABANDON SHIP with no regrets!

I wish there was a Yammer Support Group for us where we could commiserate anonymously. In the meantime, this site is getting me through the day! ; )

I also kept hanging on due to the golden handcuffs, I decided it just wasn’t worth it anymore. The paycheck was great and the pension was growing, but my mental health and time with family was worth more. I left earlier this year….no regrets.

I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm, no more
No, I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm, no more
Well, I wake up in the morning, fold my hands, and pray for rain
I got a head full of ideas, that are drivin' me insane
It's a shame... the way she makes me
Scrub the floor
I ain't gonna work on, nah
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm, no more
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother, no more
Nah, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother, no more
Well, he hands you a nickel, and he hands you a dime
And he asks you with a grin, if you're havin' a good time
Then he fines you every time
You slam the door
I ain't gonna work for, nah
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother, no more
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa, no more
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa, no more
Well, he puts his cigar out in your face just for kicks
His bedroom window it is made out of bricks
The National Guard
Stands around his door
I ain't gonna work for, nah
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa, no more
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma, no more
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma, no more
Well, she talks to all the servants about man and God and law
And everybody says, shes the "brains" behind pa
She's sixty-eight
But she says she's twenty-four
I ain't gonna work for, nah
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma, no more
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm, no more
No, I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm, no more
Well, I try my best to be just like I am
But everybody wants you to be just like them
They sing while they slave
And they just get bored
I ain't gonna work on, nah
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm, no more

HR should be renamed CR for “Company Resources” as the human component left that sorry group years ago. They think their job is only to refer you to another 800 number. They are useless.

Thankfully I'm retired (recent) but this is a helpful place for people to share frustrations and information that 3M leadership refuses to share openly and provide in, at best, cryptic style.

I started when Lewis Lehr was still around. What a sad day to see that this once shining city on the hill of a company has degraded into a bad version (even worse, if possible) of GE.

If anyone deserves the blame, it was the board of directors who went outside the company to hire GE mcnerney. That started the shift in momentum that finally led to what we see today. I don't blame Buckley, in fact I'd be happy if we hired someone like him to sweep up the mess. Inge? He saddled this company with massive debt to goose the share price to 250. And his coup de grace was promoting Mike.

Keep on posting team. If nothing else, you know that the lousy leaders fume when they are called out here and can't do anything about it.

Our HR team can consider to gather the honest feedback here, instead of launching several useless employee opinion surveys.
