Thread regarding VMware layoffs

End of discover phase and acquistion date

So I have understood that legally and formally they will not communicate us anything officially until before the acquisition date (Day 1) but... let's assume the discovery phase will end in November 2022 and the Day 1 will be in March 2023 (dates are not important in this context), do you think VMware executives/directors will be able to tell su after the discovery phase about our destiny? I mean even "unofficially" or as a "rumor" or whatever in order to have as much as notice as possible? Or it is really a false hope?

"Ah I see... so everything will be like "Ok guys let's deploy this new feature in PRD" till the day before we will receive our notice!"

PRDs aren't agile, you must be new here.

I’ve been told by former Symantec employees BC didn’t share any detalls until day 1 after closing the deal, so yeah they are very secretive though it doesn’t mean some top level executives already know the fate of many people.

Keep in mind many people will be fired, I’m sure BC already prepared huge amounts of money for lay offs.

Judging by experience from previous Broadcom acquisitions it depends on the rank of mgmgt. The higher mgmt (Board and -1) do know, because they are part of the process. They prepare excel lists with A & B lists and people on transition (who will stay with the company for 12-24 months and get their salary doubled over that period). But they must be close to the board, on the downside... most likely they won't risk telling anyone upfront. But they do know in advance.
Hope that helps to understand the process a little better. Unfortunately, they don't even share the process details. They are very secretive about it.
