Two years ago my store was one of the 200 slated to close. We began our liquidation process in October and closed the doors to the last customer the week before Christmas. At the news of our closing, 3 key holders bailed leaving store manager, 3 full timers and handful of part timers to empty the store. The final phase was assisting those who purchased the fixtures and then we were discarded. Unemployment kicked in and I honestly haven’t looked back. In fact they did us a favor. Good luck to all

True….on the last day we couldn’t even give it away. Couldn’t throw it in the dumpster either cause it’d been picked up a week before and wasn’t coming back with another.
Fixture sales are kind of fun. I was in-charge of fixture sales, you get the wheel and deal with customers. My job was to make money off fixtures, but also get rid of as much as I could. The more I sold, the less that had to be broken down and thrown in the trash, so if taking $5 instead of $10 for an office chair or shelf, I did it. The name of the game was something is better then spending money to trash it!
