Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Fight to the Death!!!

I have talked to many, many people with 3M pensions, and they have all come to terms with likely losing them in 3M bankruptcy.

I worked there 40 years and get $6000 a month, which I know I will lose.

There is NO WAY 3M or the 'victims' will ever settle, and we don't want them too.

Beast alternative for all concerned is for 3M to declare bankruptcy NOW to shut down the lawsuits.

We will lose most or all of our pensions, but NO ONE with a 3M pension wants anything to go to the greedy lawyers and 'hero' veteran supposedly deaf losers.

We understand they may go after our houses and other assets too since we got paid by 3M. That would be tougher, but WE ARE PREPARED.

I swear people are just flat out lying on here. A co-worker told me to check this board out for laughs, he was not wrong.

I WANTED to post the letter to this board of experts for your opinion but my lawyer said the law firm that sent it would not want me to do that and also that it might identify my based on the language.

just FYI I did work for a couple years in the division that made the earplugs, but I wasn't in legal regulatory or anything. Nonetheless my lawyer said as far as the pension goes they do have a claim if they can push 3M into bankruptcy which seems like the only outcome at this point.

My wife is threatening divorce if I lose my pension. She just can handle the stress of being around me. The last two years since these trials have been happening have basically destroyed my life.

Combination of GUILT over what those evil earplugs did and losing half of my retirement I worked for 40 years to earn.

For now I am just planning to talk to the veterans law firm tomorrow who sent me the letter and set them up to get my pension direct deposit in the hope they will agree not to file a lawsuit against me or my family.

I wi make sure the money gets to the hero veterans! Maybe if more pensioners were proactive like me the deaf could start living their lives again too.

The only people who have been sued successfully are guys like that gm engineer who switched out the part in the steering column without approval and was found out during those trials of people dying when the column locked up and air bags wouldn't activate. No one else at gm paid for it except the company.

I swear to all that is holy, there has to be one person just making this sh-t up out of whole cloth.

Generally individual employees are NOT automatically liable in any way, shape, or form for the actions of their employer. Some Jane Doe working the line in Brookings is not financially (or morally) accountable for all of 3M's actions just because she cashes a paycheck or pension check.

Second, in order to win any potential suit a lawyer would have to prove that that individual employee has some major responsibility that led to people with ear-plugs getting hurt. After that, they have to penetrate the multiple layers of legal protection that guard things like pension plans, 401ks, and people's primary homes. On top of that they would have to prove it for each individual employee. (i.e. They must prove to a jury that Joe Schmoe on the Hutchinson tape lines is personally liable for the hearing loss of Sgt. Nosepicker of the divisional artillery.) Good luck with that, I have never heard of it ever happening in the entire history of US law. Corporations are limited liability, very limited liability for just this reason.

Is it too late to request a lump sum and go from there? Forget that letter you got from a trial lawyer. Doubtful they can claw back anything you own as a retiree.

P.s if the letter really exists then retype some of its contents here as proof

Hyperbole and hysteria will only inflame the situation. Simmer down and get a hold of yourself. You will make yourself sick.
