For once, I think we might be safe from layoffs. As somebody said in another thread, the job market is still not good for employers. If you tried to look for a new job recently, you know this is true. As a result, many companies are not laying off employees despite the economic slowdown to make sure they are not short once things pick up again. Basically, we're safe because companies are worried that unlike before, they won't be able to replace us down the line.
