Thread regarding 3M layoffs

TTS needs to go

2-3 Billion spent on SAP….no ROI. Anyone involved with the debacle needs to go.

To be fair, SAP is not the one caused the catastrophe - its the incompetent designers who implemented the SAP system for 3M. I have been an SAP consultant/architect for 20+ years (i am no longer working with 3M btw, was one of restructured last year) and only in 3M I found st*pidly aweful/unecessary flows/designs. those who designed SAP for 3M made the processes overly compicated whereas it can be done by much simple and standard approach. I even challenged one of the existing "wasteful and overly long unneeded flow" and put up a proposal for optimization but just got the usual "we'll look into it" reply and nothing happened as expected. lol. oh well good luck

COEs need to be reduced to what they were intended in the first place, tax dodges, just simple geographic tax dodges. When the COEs got into the thinking that their opinion of the business mattered is when they started to fail miserably.

Also, the GSCs could have definitely been put in place with legacy systems. SAP was not a requirement in any way, shape, or form. The GSCs are just using cheap labor in Costa Rica and Philippines, they could have easily been trained on legacy systems just as much as SAP.

SAP has been a complete and utter catastrophe for 3M. If there were justice in the world the board would claw back a lot of Inge's bonuses due to the multi-billion dollar clusterfuck that SAP has been.

One can actually get rid of the COEs figure heads and get the plant function to report direct to global. This could save a ton of expense by getting rid of the regional COE reports. Mind you, they are all the 16s and 17s sitting comfortably up there.

Agree on the poster for COEs

They are those high rank sitting up there and taking credit of the works from countries or plants

No value added role except high paid reporters

coe's were a prima donna set up to find homes for the 25 year plus employees who did want to be plant managers any more. Not sure what they really did but develop huge macro driven spreadsheets and cool PowerPoint slide shows with great graphics and animations.

Focusing on SAP is a poor way of looking at it. The implementation of the GSCs is a massive financial benefit, and wouldn’t be possible without a central system like SAP. Same goes for the supply chain COEs.

I’m NOT saying those orgs were a good idea. Focusing on SAP lets the operating model off the hook. Ask - did the bottom line focus leading to implementation of the GSCs and COEs result in growth for 3M ?

I’d say no.

Can we sue SAP for incompetent software. Pen and paper worked better at 3m.

Technically the Chief Transformation Officer should be guiding the way now.
By the way where is Moni hiding?

Yes - but do we have anyone that knows what to do next ?

Agree with OP

We are not seeing any growth as a result of SAP implementations. EMEA is still struggling with sales even after SAP. We are better off to remain in legacy system.

Now wonder the stock price is tanking
