Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Visa status

Tech industry is going through massive layoffs. I know about the rules that you need to join new employer within sixty days.

But realistically, all the people who are unable to find job in given time period leave US?

Since finding jobs in sixty days is difficult in this job market.

I know consultancy is one way but people really pursue that path? Are there other loopholes.

People who survived 2008 recession what was situation during that time? Does many of your immigrant colleague left US?

Just leave the US! Seriously... it's not the dream country everyone think it is... Rather go to some Scandinavian countries in Europe like Sweden, Finland ecc...

I survived the 2008 recession. I was notified on Nov 2/3. I started interviewing in mid-Nov and found a job by mid-December. I had an approved I-797 on self-funded premium processing before the close of the year. This was at a company that was laying off others and I was the only hire exception. In summary, it is doable if you are a go-getter.

Again, do not go down the consultancy path. I thought I told you this when you asked this question before. It's plain fraud. Do not contribute to this ecosystem and bring further disrepute to our brethren.

Buh-bye. My wide scrambled early 2000s to find a new job in 60 days, it isn’t easy. Stop reading this message board and start working on your LinkedIn profile and calling friends. Otherwise you will be moving back in with your mom in the motherland.

Marry someone.

Seriously though, if you have a Visa start looking. Don't play the lottery, even if it's a paycut in a difficult environment. Later on you can switch again for a higher TC.
