How do you guys deal with this stress? If I wasn’t bald I’d be pulling my hair out

Smoke some weed dude. To quote Bob Marley, "It's naturaaal, maan". Just chill.
You deal with it by controlling your future and finding a new opportunity outside of AVGO/VMW.
VMware is just another company. No pay is worth stress or anxiety. Only thing you can do is move on. I left shortly after the announcement and despite getting paid about the same but less benefits, I don’t miss VMware on bit.
I personally took control over my life and left VMware recently, it really helped to relief the stress, I still read the posts here because I love this forum. Anti anxiety/depression pills can really help to go through a rough period in life if you feel that the anxiety is getting out of hand, and there is no shame with getting help. On top of the rest of the good comments her life sleeping, doing sports and eating well.
Xanax
I use my anxious energy to apply for new jobs, clean the house, workout, etc. Grab yourself by the bootstraps and channel that energy into something that benefits you spiritually, physically, emotionally, etc. Consider talking with a therapist as well. Hang in there!
Rosy…..lmfao
Bald, you say?
We have narrowed down who you are, now.
I prefer dancing with a goat under the full moon, works for me!
At least the stock market is doing well.......oh wait.
If you work in the IT industry long enough you’ll learn acquisitions and redundancies are almost normal. It sucks but that’s how it is.
Normally even if the writing is on the wall it’s sudden and unexpected. Even VMW have had an annual culling each Jan/Feb.
So view this as actually a good scenario, we’ve had 6 months minimum notice period on top of whatever notice period you may get should you be on Hocks list. That’s way better than most get when they get axed.
So take control, if you’re sticking around because the redundancy package may be worth it, or because you may not mind working for whatever new beast emerges and you want to see what happens then skill up. Get on some training courses, get your qualifications. On a personal front start putting aside as much money as you can. If you are chopped then you’re in a good place.
Alternatively if that doesn’t appeal, then view this as a period of change and go look for the next step of your career.
But don’t take notice of the doomsayers and windup merchants on sites like this. They have as much inside knowledge of what’s going on, and what decisions are being made as the turtles have, but without the charm.
Use your PTO, use the ‘Take a Break’ days, take control of the things you have direct control over that’s the best way to manage when these things happen.
prayer
Meditate. Helps 1000%... Yoga helps too.
Stoicism
Make sure you walk at least 30 mins a day to clear your head, but the best advice I can give you if you are feeling stressful is to avoid coming on here, as it’s full of bullsh-tters who know absolutely fu-k all about what is happening, but talk with authority.
You’re welcome.
I write buggy software, it helps.
I’m bald and I just use tweezers here and there.
Get a new job. The severance isnt worth the stress.
